@Flametix Your statement is so amazing i have to write a whole comment about it. Yes, people can endlessly agree with someone’s opinion of pinapple not belonging on pizza, or that Klefki shouldn’t even exist, but that doesn’t deem it fact. Someone could put pinapple on pizza, or use Klefki in a battle, and that’s their opinion, and a mere person can’t change it. But people never know unless they try to open up to the other person’s point of view, which is really hard for some people.

@Dedenne90524 I can agree mostly, but pineapple pizza is something that transcends opinion. Some things are meant to never exist.

Scarlet and violet because they added Ting-lu

@LordNewb66 That is not a reason for SV to be the BEST Pokemon game. You may like that Pokemon, but that isn’t a reason.

I know I'm late, but I was looking for a thread like this and wanted to join in. FYI, I started playing Pokemon with Gen 1 when I was like 5.
Kanto starts it all, so it's hard to compare. Ruby/Sapphire is a strong contender; the number of new features, improved graphics/quality of life elements, and new-pokemon : old-pokemon ratio are so much more dramatic than any other back-to-back generations in the series. And of course Black/White has the most ground-breaking plot synopsis, one that actually refines the franchise's image.
Scarlet/Violet I love so much. As someone else noted, its new battle mechanic is the best in the series, by far. One thing I don't see many people talking about is its effect on competitive play. S/V made is so easy to bring pokemon to competitive level, what with how easy it is to change natures and abilities, change EVs, and max IVs. Double battles are a big feature of this game, too. Even someone who new to the franchise would be ready to join the competitive scene after they beat the game. That's huge, and underappreciated, and the community is better for it. And yeah, no doubt, the story and music are awesome, and you could practically start a cult around the concept of using crystals to tap into alternate timelines and realize/manifest a new part of yourself to fight your dragon lol
But for me, nothing beats fighting the champ in a giant, sold-out sports arena, with the crowd going wild as gigantamaxed pokemon launch cataclysmicly explosive attacks. I kept editing my save files to I could replay the championship with all my favorite teams, and some of the moments in those battles remain peak experiences for me out of all the generations.
