from what i see it definitely does look promising, but it seems like you are here on vacation or something. i really hope it isn't some school field trip and its instead just going on a pokemon adventure. also near the end there was a cloud that looked like some dragon pokemon maybe its teasing a cover legendary. also was it just me or were there no new pokemon revealed other than the starters?

yeah i am not crazy about the starters either to be honest, but also now i have an excuse to get a switch 2

The only way to push people into getting the Switch 2 is having more Switch 2 exclusive games. Have to remember the Switch is coming up on 9 years old. That’s a long time and has ancient internal hardware that predates Pascal(aka the legendary 1000 series of NVidia GPU’s). Games are going to become more demanding and you can’t expect game developers to continue making games for the old Switch.
Right now Gen 10 is a no for me. They’d have to do way better than this to get me to bite(Vulpix would get me to revisit it though).

i am just a bit sceptical that if its likle scarlet/violet there wont be much to do in the cities, i hope that they bring back immersive cities like in the ds/3ds entries

also something that i am glad to see if the lack of gimmicks, been getting tired of them

I can confirm. I went through the entire trailer, and there were 28 species of Pokémon with physical appearances, with the only new ones being the starters.
As for my thoughts on the games themselves, they certainly look better than most, if not all of the recent games. I'm going to play them if and when I get a Switch 2, but they're probably not going to be the only reason for me to get one, especially considering Kirby and the Forgotten Land's DLC and Kirby Air Riders.
I'm also probably going to try to complete the Pokédex when I play them, because I'm only ten Mythical Pokémon away from completing my HOME dex, and I don't want to fall behind.
I was surprised to see that they're coming next year rather than this year. It gives me hope that they're going to be high quality, at the very least compared to Scarlet and Violet, considering it's going to be 4-5 years between generations rather than 3.
The region itself looks very interesting. Legends Z-A was fun, but I feel like the whole game taking place in a city makes the environment somewhat monotonous, and Winds and Waves could be a nice refresher, because I'm obviously not familiar with the region.
Overall, I'll probably end up playing the games regardless, but I'm hoping they'll be worth the wait and the money, as well as being Switch 2 exclusive.
List of Pokémon in the trailer if anybody's interested:
- Pikachu
- Oddish
- Gloom
- Krabby
- Tangela
- Ledyba
- Ledian
- Slugma
- Corsola
- Taillow
- Wingull
- Wailmer
- Wailord
- Duskull
- Tropius
- Carnivine
- Lumineon
- Tympole
- Frillish
- Tynamo
- Mareanie
- Toxapex
- Sandygast
- Sizzlipede
- Nymble
- Browt
- Pombon
- Gecqua
From that list, a total of 48 known Pokémon are likely to be in the games.4 -
I was expecting them to be Switch 2 exclusive, especially after Z-A was on both. Game Freak has enough trouble developing games targeting one console.
The Nintendo Switch is ten years old next year, and we've had two generations and six Pokémon games on the thing (counting FRLG, more if you count the NSO games). I think it's had a long enough run (if not a good one).
I would say that maybe the Switch 2 will be cheaper when the game comes out next year, or we might get an enhanced edition or even a Winds and Waves edition, but the way technology prices have been going I am not so sure.
