"Let's go, partner," you exclaim, sending out Floragato. The cat meows aggressively at the opponent, showing off its yo-yo.

"Let's not waste time. Psycho Cut," Jeremiah commands. Gallade sprints to the Grass type, blade extended.

"Dodge it," you holler. Floragato leaps over the opponent's attack, landing softly behind it. "Now use Seed Bomb!"

The Grass Cat grabs its yo-yo and slams it into the enemy. Gallade stumbles slightly but seems otherwise alright. "Use Counter," the Gym Leader shouts.

The Blade Pokémon turns around quickly and slams its fist into Floragato, dealing some pretty big damage. The cat is sent flying back but easily regains its footing.

"Let's stay at a distance," you tell your partner. "Use Magical Leaf!"

Floragato begins spinning its yo-yo in a circle, glowing blades of leaves flying at the opponent. Knowing it can't dodge this, Gallade just braces for impact. It takes the hit, getting pushed back slightly from the force of the attack.

"Don't let this stop you," Jeremiah states. "Use Night Slash!"

Gallade extends its blade and starts charging through the Magical Leaf. It easily makes its way to Floragato and slices it with a dark sword. Your partner is broken out of its attack, staggering backwards.

"You good," you ask your Pokémon. Floragato stands up straighter, nodding confidently. "Good. Use Bite!"

The Grass Cat leaps forward, fangs bared. Strangely, neither Jeremiah or Gallade look concerned as Floragato sinks its teeth into the Blade Pokémon. "Thank you for that," the Gym Leader tells you. Gallade glows red with a stat increase.

"That was justified," you grumble, coming to understanding.

"That's right," the opponent confirms. "Now grab it and use Sacred Sword repetitively!"

Floragato yelps with surprise as the enemy holds it down. The Grass Cat struggles against Gallade's grip but can't escape. You can't do anything but watch as the Blade Pokémon slashes your Pokémon non-stop. Your partner's cries of pain fill the room as it gets slaughtered by the enemy.

"Time to end this," Jeremiah yells. "Use Psycho Cut!"

Gallade raises its arms above its head, ready to give the final strike. "NO," you exclaim, knowing this is the end. However, right as the Blade Pokémon begins to bring the sword down, Floragato screams, glowing with a bright light that knocks Gallade back.

You watch in awe as your cat stands up, shining brightly and its features begin to change. First, it grows taller and more slender. Then its arms get longer and claws sharper. A long, flowing cape appears on its back, going down to its ankles. Something appears in its hand and it puts it over its eyes. Then, it throws its hand into the air dramatically right as all the light bursts off of it.

With the shine gone, you can actually see all the details. The body is the same as a Paldean Meowscarada, the only difference being its legs are black instead of dark green. Everything else is pretty different. The thing it put on was a purple masquerade-style mask. It does, in fact, have a cape that is purple on the outside but dark green inside. It has a bunch of round black and purple flowers floating around its head, some of them randomly disappearing and reappearing.

"Interesting," you mutter, pulling out your PokéDex. It does a quick scan then beeps, pulling up the information.

Lacosian Meowscarada. The Magician Pokémon. Grass/Psychic type. It has perfected its craft, no longer using slight of hand tricks but actual magic. The flowers surrounding it are filled with a powder that inflicts a status condition when inhaled. You read more and see that it has many moves Floragato didn't, as well as a unique Psychic type attack.

"Flourishing Performance," you command. Meowscarada snaps its fingers and does a circle with its arm, a trail of flowers appearing everywhere its arm was. It then does another snap and the circle of flowers go flying at Gallade.

"Dodge it," Jeremiah shouts. The Blade Pokémon attempts to jump out the way, but the flowers follow it. They all hit it, bursting into a large cloud of smoke. Gallade drops to the ground, paralyzed.

"Nice hit," you praise your partner. Meowscarada bows around, meowing as if thanking an audience.

"Push through this," the Gym Leader tells his Pokémon. "Use Night Slash!"

Gallade charges at Meowscarada, much slower than usual. It has a dark blade extended, pulled back and ready to strike. "Dodge," you state. The cat waits until is right on it before moving, easily avoiding the attack. "Now use Seed Bomb!"

Meowscarada grabs one of its flowers and smash it into the opponent's head. "Quickly, use Counter," Jeremiah shouts.

Gallade quickly slams its fist into your partner, but the cat is barely fazed by this by this. "Get back," you tell it. Meowscarada does a small jump and kicks off of Gallade, doing a backflip high into the air. It then summons a bunch of its flowers, creating a giant platform beneath it. "Now use Flourishing Performance!"

The cat snaps its fingers and an army of flowers surround the opponent. It snaps again and they all slam into Gallade, even the ones it is standing on. Both Pokémon aren't visible in the large cloud of dust. Then, Meowscarada meows and snaps and all of the powder turns into glitter, revealing it standing there, arms wide and smiling proudly as it looks down at the unconscious Gallade.

"Very good," Jeremiah praises as he returns his Pokémon. "It appears I'm down to my last Pokémon."

He tosses out a SirFetch'd, which points its sword at Meowscarada.
