I only just got one. Until this past Black Friday, I was like you. I spent roughly $1k but given I had been stockpiling for years, I didn't go into debt over it like some people do over the holidays(I'll never understand that either).

As to age range, I'm guessing preteens through adults... Basically anyone who likes pokemon. Yep, 30 years touched a lot of people, and those people may have had kids which then continues the cycle. It's multi-generational!

I've always assumed the average user was around 12-18 (average, meaning not everyone but a lot of people).

They aren't that expensive second hand, plus the Switch 2 has limited backwards compatibility.
