Eh... It's aight
My opinions are mixed. On one hand, the graphics of Winds and Waves seem like a huge step up, the dynamic battles of Z-A worked really well, and the newer Pokemon are still as good as the old. On the other hand, UNITE is falling apart after they made one too many greedy decisions, and let's not forget that a few devs in a basement are able to do some elements of game design better than a massive game company.

I'm neutral about it. Nothing positive to say but no complaints
I think it needs a lot of improvement, but picked neutral because I still like some things in the games. I think the games need more time because every single one of the games released since XY feel like they were developed in a bit of a rush (XY's often discussed problems and not-very-good story and a lot of things in USUM making it feel like SM was rushed so it'd release on the 20th anniversary (at least it has the much better story). I don't have any examples for ORAS, the lack of a battle frontier could be explained by them wanting to make it have the battle maison like XY since they're in the same gen), and it gets horribly obvious with the Switch games (most obviously with BDSP, or SV if we're only discussing Pokémon games that actually exist in our universe because BDSP isn't real, it's just a bad dream everyone had and PLA was the first Sinnoh game since Platinum. SV's sloppily made open world is empty, the game has nothing to do outside of online events and paid DLC, and it's the only colour-full Pokémon game I don't like the graphics of much, even if I've gotten used to them and like them more than before now. Then there's Z-A where they give you an unfinished game where the only thing to do is battle and do side quests for 60$ and then make the post-game 30$ when it's smaller than one from the 3DS era where the entire game, with a built-in post-game like games are supposed to have, costed 30. And it's such a slog at many points and at the entirety of the DLC. Say what you want about SwSh and its flaws, but at least I enjoyed it and could have fun replaying it a million times, which used to be the norm but hasn't happened since then).
Despite all I said, I do think it's not completely bad. There's a lot of bad stuff that needs to be fixed, but I can't say playing through SV and its DLC wasn't incredibly fun for me, or that base game Z-A didn't have a lot of fun moments. It's just that it's been going slowly downhill, randomly rode a rocket into the Mariana Trench during November 2021, teleported back to its previous spot, and then started rolling downhill starting with SV and I hope that doesn't continue.

Considering the massive scale and the amount of money TPC generates and comparing it to what other companies with way fewer resources can pull off... Pokemon is currently below its potential.
Sure, they do some things really well, but especially regarding the mainline games... the general low quality is incomprehensible to me.
It feels like they are always two or three steps behind the state of the art... It makes you think like: "ten years ago this game would have been considered fantastic"… it's sad.

it feels like it has gotten lazy
compare legends Z-A to legends Arceus…it's night and day. Same can be said of Scarlet/Violet and Sword/Shield…Sword/Shield had better framerates, fewer glitches, and better animations
As it stands, I end up playing more pokemon fangames then the original games because fans are doing gamefreak's jobs better
Heck, New Pokemon Snap had a better representation of pokemon then the official pokemon games
