FIGHTing him seams like the best idea

"I accept your challenge," you tell him. The old man smirks and nods, leading you outside.
"Good, good," he mutters as her makes some distance between y'all in the field. "Alright! I am Old Man Elijah, but Eli is fine. This will be a one on one battle with no gimmicks. First Pokémon to faint loses. If ya win, I reward yeh with a Z-Crystal. Sound good?"
"Yup," you reply, your PokeBall already in hand.
"Good," Eli responds, pulling out his own PokeBall. "Then let's fight!"
The two of you toss out your Pokémon. You send Eevee into the battle. The little dog barks aggressively, much more confident than it was just a week ago. Your opponent unleashes a Mimikyu, which stares Eevee dead in the eyes. Or, you thought it was, but then remember the head isn't the actual head and look down to see it looking at a nearby flower.
"Ghost versus Normal," you mumble. You know the two types can't effect each other, so using Normal type attacks would be a waste of time. "Alright, let's start with getting that ability out of the way. Use Bite!"
Your Pokémon leaps forward, teeth bared and ready to chomp. "Use Double Team," Eli commands. Suddenly, Mimikyu is focused solely on its opponent and it dashes in a circle so fast that it gives the illusion that there are multiple. Eevee stops and looks around, unsure which to hit.
"Don't let this faze you," you tell it. "Use Swift then Bite!"
Eevee gathers stars at its tail then does a spin. All the stars go flying off the dog and to the target. Unable to miss, the projectiles follow Mimikyu as it moves, revealing its location to you. The Evolution Pokémon follows the stars and sinks its teeth into the one they are attacking. The Disguise Pokémon staggers back a bit but seems mostly unbothered by the hit. Its outfit's head drops back, Disguise being used.
"So you're playing aggressively," the old man asks with a chuckle. "So can we. Use Play Rough!"
Mimikyu leaps forward as it unleashes shadowy claws from beneath its cloak. The Ghost/Fairy then begins to relentlessly slash Eevee. The dog howls as it takes devastating damage, smacking it without a pause before finishing with a strike that sends the Normal type flying.
"Can you continue," you ask your Pokémon. Eevee slowly rises to its feet and nod. "Great. Use Baby Doll Eyes!"
The dog whines softly and tilts its head down at a slight tilt, looking up at the opponent with wide, innocent eyes. The enemy's eyes soften as its Attack gets lowered, the move taking effect. "Good move," Elijah praises, "but we have more than just Physical Attacks. Use Moonblast!"
"Dodge," you shout. Eevee attempts to leap out of the way, but its leg gets hit, tripping the Evolution Pokémon out of the air.
"Quick, follow up with Drain Punch," your opponent commands. Mimikyu moves fast, dashing to the falling Eevee and punches it across the face. As the dog soars across the field, the attacker glows green as it gets some health back. "Now another Moonblast!"
Mimkyu doesn't give Eevee time to get to its feet again before launching another glowing pink orb at it. "Hurry, move," you shout desperately. However, your Pokémon can't move quick enough and takes the full hit.
"Looks like this is the end of the battle," your challenger states with a sad sigh. "Let me tell ya, I'm very disappointed! Use Play Rough!"
The Disguise Pokémon leaps over to your Pokémon, claws ready. "Swift," you shout. Eevee barks and some stars go flying through Mimikyu. Both Eli and his Pokémon watched with confusion.
"Why'd ya do that," the old man asks.
"To distract you," you answer. He barely has a grasp on the situation as Eevee jumps up at Mimikyu while it's attention is elsewhere. "Bite!"
The dog chomps down on its enemy, causing Mimikyu to flinch. You're about to command another Bite, but Eevee acts on its own, doing a flip as its tail hardens and slamming an Iron Tail into the opponent. "Yeh knew Iron Tail," Eli exclaims with shock. "Why weren't ya usin' dat more?"
"This is the first time Eevee used that," you reply, smiling at your dog with pride. You look at Mimikyu and see it lying on the ground, unconscious. "We won! Great job," you tell your Pokémon. Eevee begins howling with power as it glows.
You watch in awe as it grows taller and its fur disappears. The tail gets thinner but becomes longer. Two small wings spring from its back and horns come from its head. When the light disburses, you see that Eevee (well, not Eevee anymore) is a dark blue and now has scales instead of fur, nothing soft left on its body. You pull out your PokeDex to learn more.
Drakeon. The Aggressive Dragon Pokémon. A Dragon type. Ability is Rough Scales. It reaches this point when its Physical Attack has reached its max, now able to easily destroy opponent's with one to two strikes. While very aggressive and easily agitated, Drakeon cares deeply for its loved ones and will attack anyone that threatens them.
You look away from the Dex and smile at Drakeon, which is staring back at you with a smile of its own. "Well, I guess I was wrong," Eli says with surprise. "A win and evolution. Yeh exceeded all of my expectations! Ya know what? To celebrate this wonderful moment, I'll give yeh two Z-Crystals instead of one. Free o' charge!"
WHat two Z-Crystals do you take?
Keep in mind that your Pokémon know attacks that don't always match their types
Examples: Dark (Meowscarada knowing Bite, Drakeon knowing Bite, and Ceruledge having Night Slash), Normal (Almost any Pokémon), and Ghost (while yes Ceruledge's type, Poinche knows Destiny Bond and Shadow Ball)
Those are just some examples
You don't have to go with a type that isn't on your team, though
At the end of the day it's up to y'all
