You watch as the Gym Leader makes an X with hits arms, SirFetch'd doing the same. They then push their arms out and slowly punch the air, speeding up with each strike. Orange energy flows from Jeremiah to his Pokémon. Suddenly, the duck is filled with immense power and it swings its limbs and sword relentlessly, creating large shock waves.
"Dodge it," you shout. Meowscarda tries its best, constantly jumping, rolling, and spinning to avoid the attacks. However, the Z-Move doesn't seem to be stopping. The cat begins to get tired and slows, giving an opening for one hit. This messes up your partner's entire rhythm, leading it to take hit after hit after hit.
You can't do anything but watch helplessly as Meowscarada gets destroyed by the onslaught of the All Out Pummeling. With a loud holler, SirFetch'd brings its blade down one last time, releasing a giant wave that sends your Pokémon flying.
"This is the only chance I am giving," the Gym Leader states. "Surrender now!"
You seriously contemplate this, but then Meowscarada gets back to its feet and gives a laugh. A laugh of determination. You shake your head.
"I'm good," you tell him. "In fact, I'll be matching your energy. Time to go all out!"
You pull out your partner's PokéBall and quickly return it. You shove your hand out beside you, allowing Max Energy to fill the ball and make it grow at least five times in size. You toss the giant ball into the air. The PokéBall bursts, and Meowscarada comes out glowing, quickly growing with each millisecond.
When the cat reaches full height, the light disburses, revealing a G-Max Meowscarada. The cat's mask has became a much deeper shade of purple and looks more like a Paldean Meowscarada's, just larger and sharper. Its cape has grown to be a lot longer, flowing on the ground beneath it. The cape also has a collar, kind of like Doctor Strange's. Vines have wrapped around its body, creating something that kind of looks like a tuxedo. And to top it all off is its flowers gathered around its head and create a top hat that sits on top of one of its ears. Your opponents look up with a mix of fear and awe.
You look down and read its Psychic G-Max Move. "G-Max Flower Surprise," you command. Your partner meows as it snaps its fingers. All the flowers that make up the top hat disappear with a small pop.
"Detect," Jeremiah shouts to his Pokémon. SirFetch'd's eyes glow as it looks around, and it quickly jumps out the way as the giant flowers begin to come raining down from nowhere. It can't dodge them, however, due to the size of them, forcing it to take the attack at full force. Each flower burst into a cloud of powder that covers the entire stadium. You're unsure of what's happening, but you did see Meowscarada shrink back down to normal size, which is odd since it has only used one attack. After about three minutes the cloud disappears, showing Meowscarda standing literally on top of an unconscious SirFetch'd. The cat bows to you and the Gym Leader, obviously proud of its victory.
"You did it," you exclaim, rushing over and hugging your partner. The cat meows at you, patting you on the back in return.
"Good job," Jeremiah tells you as he returns his Pokémon. "You fought well and earned the win. Your reward."
The man hands you a badge in the shape of a fist. The Combat Badge. He also hands you a TM for Bulk Up. "Thank you," you tell him as you put your items in your bag.
"One last thing," he says, handing you a Z-Ring. "I only give these to those who are worthy. You most definitely are. I cannot give you a crystal, though. However, there is somewhere you can go that will sell you one. If you're interested, that is."
Decision time!
Also, I'm going to copy and paste the last part and this one together so we can have as one part
Anyways, do you continue on to the next town or go buy a Z-Crystal?
All I'm going to say is you have enough money to get one
Just not going to say how much you have and it will be until you decide if you get it or not

"You good to keep going," you ask your partner. Meowscarada nods, looking at SirFetch'd with a confident expression.
"Let's go! Use Night Slash," Jeremiah commands. The opposing duck dashes forward, its sword covered in dark energy.
"Counter with Seed Bomb," you shout. Meowscarada grabs a flower near its head and slams it into the blade. The two attacks push each Pokémon back, equal in power. "Now use Flourishing Performance!"
The cat snaps its fingers and points at the opponent. Flowers instantly surround SirFetch'd, poised to strike. "Detect," the Gym Leader demands. Meowscarada snaps again, using the attack, but SirFetch'd's eyes glow. The duck easily predicts every incoming flower, even the invisible ones.
"Keep the attacks going," you holler. "Magical Leaf!"
Your partner does a dramatic grab at nothing and brings its closed hands to its face. Then, it blows as it uncurls its fingers, a flurry of grass that appeared from thin air flying at the target. SirFetch'd stands it ground as it takes the attack head on.
"Push through," Jeremiah yells. "Meteor Assault!"
The duck charges through the leaves, covered in orange energy. "Dodge it," you command. Meowscarada tries, but it doesn't have time. SirFetch'd rams into the cat at full force, knocking the Magician Pokémon far across the field.
"Are you okay," you question as your partner rises to its feet. Meowscarada stands up straight and brushes itself off, giving a confident nod. "Great! Hit it while it can't move. Flourishing Performance!"
The cat meows as it opens its cape dramatically, an army of flowers soaring out. The SirFetch'd can't do anything but stand there, eyes wide, as it gets bombarded by the plants. The flowers burst into a cloud of powder on impact, and when it clears it reveals a poisoned Sirfetch'd.
"Time to go all out," Jeremiah states, raising up his arms to reveal a Z-Crystal. "LET'S DO THIS!!!"

As someone who loves the Alola games the Z-Crystals just being sold somewhere feels a little sad, them always being obtained through trials (not always the ones that were part of the story and with Totems, sometimes it was just things like finding your way through Haina Desert or venturing into an optional part of Mount Lanakila (Alolan Victory Road), and the ones that were in normal Trials had a Totem Pokemon protecting them and ready to attack you, the player character, if you dared try to take the Crystal before beating the Trial, and there were ones that just require battling someone or some Pokémon) was one of my favourite parts about them. I guess it makes sense that they could sell them considering it doesn't look like this region cares about the Z-Crystals like Alola does, probably due to them not being as important as a part of their history as they were to Alola. Sorry, I understand it's more convenient this way and adding trials could make the story more messy and unfocused, I just really liked that part of them in the games and wanted to mention it since it caught me off-guard. I don't think not having them is bad writing.
I choose to go buy a Z-Crystal.
