So you're surprised I was alive in 99 for Pokémon Yellow(how else would I have it?), yet you have an Atari that is even older than the NES. The only reason we got rid of our consoles is because we literally did not have a TV or device with an RCA connection(aka old school Audio + Video). I didn't want to get rid of them either… but they literally were taking up space and we had no way to play them so… yeah.. It's partly why I like Nintendo Online but I just wish their library was far, FAR bigger than what it is right now. Particularly on their NES and SNES should be massively bigger. I would love to play the old WW2 games(Operation Europe, PTO 1+2; all made by Koei) but I suspect they'd have to get a licensing agreement to do so(ditto with Konami for Contra…)

Robotic Operating Buddy? Oof now thats going back… weren't into them but that's definitely some old school tech there. Coleco is solid but I'd probably go with Atari if I had to pick. Boo on the broken NES.

@Lonestar85 , I played a game (and beat it way back in the days) but can't quite remember the name... Shadow Runner? Blade Runner? I can't remember the name. It was like one of the first rpg's I ever played and was so proud of myself when I beat it. (And yep, I remember all those Maddens, lol we'd fight over who got to be who)

My first console was a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for Yanks). After that I had a Game Boy Pocket, so I was able to play the Pokémon series from its outset. I had a Sega Game Gear, but my sister used the wrong adaptor with it and it literally caught fire.

A little later I got an N64, but I sold it and stopped gaming for a year or two until I eventually picked up a Gamecube, along with a GBA.

Following that I got an Xbox 360 (primarily for Halo 3) but that was also the first generation in which I came to own all three major platforms and also started PC gaming in earnest. I got the original PS3 model which have me access to the entire PlayStation library I had previously only been able to play at friends' houses.

I did actually win a contest to "be one of the first to own a Nintendo DS" in the UK Nintendo Office Magazine, but by the time they informed me and delivered my prize, the DS had already launched and I had purchased my own, but I sold it to a friend for some extra cash.

In uni I bought a PSP from a friend, which was actually a great little console for RPGs, and also had a lot of PS1 games. Shortly before moving to Japan I also got a Vita, which I later found had a much stronger library there than anywhere else.

After moving to Japan, I bought a number of retro consoles, including a Super Famicon, a Wonderswan and a PC Engine. I did buy a PS4 Pro at launch, but I was very disappointed by it. It broke after only a few years, and I only really used it for Bloodborne and Persona 5.

I of course purchased a 3DS and a Switch OLED during my time here, and from Sun and Moon onwards my Pokémon experience has been exclusively in Japanese, which is part of the reason I often forget the English names of newer Pokémon.

The other reason is that there are over 1000 of them and honestly I started to lose track in gen 4.

These days I pretty much exclusively stick to retro gaming. I do not own any of the current generation of consoles and have little desire to purchase them, unless something amazing comes out that doesn't eventually make its way to PC.

We'll see if gen 10 is Switch 2 exclusive, but I never bothered with Z-A and I doubt the franchise is going to turn around now. Forcing me to buy a new platform to play it will probably be the final straw that pushes me out of the fandom for good.

A lot of 2DS/3DSes (at least 7 in total, though a few are broken), a DS Lite, a Switch OLED, a Switch lite, and a broken Switch, and that's all I personally own. I have all mainline Pokémon games and DLCs from Emerald/FRLG onwards (and still haven't gotten RS or RGBY/GSC, or even a console that can play the first two gens).

Happen to know the platform? That would help a great deal in narrowing it down. With respect to RPG's on NES, the most notable is Final Fantasy(I've never played any of them so burn me if you wish, I'm a Fire type with Flash Fire). There's also Dragon Quest or Dragon Warrior that was super popular in Japan but I dont think that was it. There's also Fire Emblem which keeps getting new titles even to this day. Zelda is also technically an RPG but you'd know its name given its popularity.

SNES… pretty much all the ones I mentioned above alongside Chrono Trigger(which again I never played).

As for Madden, we had a multi-tap for 5-player action(and we'd use all 5 slots and all be on the same side). I remember playing a game against the CPU where we won 98-91(no joke).

    Well...

    The Atari is my dad's

He got it very shortly after it came out

I wasn't even a thought at the time

I'm just surprised because I thought you were my age

I don't think it's bad or anything that you were alive then

The game was probably a NES (my brother's console), or possibly Sega Genesis (ours was second hand, my uncle gave it to my family when he upgraded his gaming system to whatever the newest one was at the time). My sis had a GB (I would borrow it and boy did it eat batteries). Later I also has a GBA (second hand), but I bought a DS lite new. I also bought a PS slim, PS2, PS3 when they were first out. Just got a Wii mini two yrs ago (also second hand), and I play via my mobile/cell phone.

Yes, I have a bunch of FFs, played a few Zeldas, a couple Pokemon, a ton of Sonics, my fav Elder Scrolls, Dragon Ages, Sword of Mana, Age of Empires, Spyros, TMNTs, MK, Tekkens, the Mario games, the Guitar Heros, some Legos, Kirby's, Raving Rabids/Raymans, six Transformers, Terraria, Minecraft, diff pinballs, but for sports I only liked the older football and the racing or MX games (ATV vs MXs and a few others).

I almost got a PS4 but heard too many negatives including that it wouldn't play previous games so I held off. Now I'm saving for a newer system but might snap up used and refurbished games and possibly a system if the price is right.

I've played waaaaay to many games to list them all including many of them already listed by others here. Nothing wrong with being a gamer for life 😎
