where those what you got on the d12's? I will give a quick explanation most things in this system rely on a 2d12 based system the first d12 is the hope dice the second d12 is the fear dice you or me gain a point that we can use for things depending on which one is higher rather giving you a hope point or me a fear point. when you attack there is a difficulty of the enemy your 2d12's have to be higher than what the enemies difficulty is. if you roll 2 of the same number that is a crit it autimatically succseeds you get to clear a stress also.
