so far, in the shop, the only currencies I’ve seen are aeos gems and holowear tickets

Mer (I think), after reset that means Catch'em... and tomorrow Shivre after reset. Unless I'm off a day.
Or we could do a bigger battle or two? (I need a break from Kyogre though, lol)

Yeah, practically everything is available for gems. The things I listed previously are also available to be purchased using tickets. i.e. Some avatar gear, held items, held item enhancers, other consumables etc.
Avatar gear is not Pokemon holowear.
Holowear for Pokemon is only purchased using gems or holowear tickets.
Emblem slots and emblem mergers / upgrades are not done through the shop. That's in the menu that you open up when you select your profile.
