Next Legends Game? (Theory)

Okay, I wanna start off by reminding everyone that this is just a theory, and is not a hundred percent confirmed. I've gotten negative responses in other places, but I'm just looking for a friendly discussion about the next potential Legends game. (Also, if you haven't played Legends Z-A or Mega Dimensions, then beware of potential spoilers.)

My theory is that the next Legends game is gonna take place in Alola. Whether focused on the whole region, a specific island (similar to what they did in Legends Z-A with Lumiose City), or instead focused on Ultra Space (more specifically Ultra Megalopolis. It's no guarantee for any of these, but I am excited about the idea of returning to Alola and exploring Ultra Space again.

As for why I believe it to be Alola, is because of many reasons. Reasons which are listed below.

To start, I'd like to mention the themes. We keep encountering rifts and distortions. In Hisui we encountered Space-Time Distortions. In Lumiose we got Hyperspace. In Alola we would likely return to Ultra Space exploring further to see new worlds and hopefully an expansion of the previously introduced ones.

Sidenote: If it is more focused on a specific island, I'd assume Melemele, due to being where the Island Trials tend to begin, not to mention it being the implied location of Ultra Ruin when traveling through Ultra Space. However, Poni Island being the location we get a direct path to the Ultra Wormholes, it makes sense that we'd explore there.

With the first game taking place during the first development of Hisui in the distant past. The second taking place in the development of Wild Zones within Lumiose in the present. It makes sense that we'd get an advanced and maybe even future Alola.

Alternatively, it could be possible that we'd end up playing as Fallers who are recruited to join the Ultra Recon Squad, in Ultra Megalopolis. It would make the Legends theme come full circle as we return in maybe a DLC, which brings us home (likely to Melemele Island).

I see the Ultra Recon Squad idea to be a fitting vibe of a Legends game. But, not necessarily a hundred percent plausible. But, going back and forth between Alola and Ultra Megalopolis, seems rather viable, if taking place in the distant future. We'd probably be seeing the advancements of technology in Alola, due to the Ultra Recon Squad.

Moving forward, based on the previously shown patterns of the last two Legends games, it can be assumed that the next Gen game will follow in suit. The pattern of which is the real world inspiration, as well as the proximity or connection to the formerly introduced region, which has the most likely connection in-game to the prior Legends. (The real world inspiration for Gen 10 is based on rumors, I don't know if it's legitimate.)

Based on certain details, such as Hyperspace Primordial Sea, Hyperspace Desolate Land, and Hyperspace Sky Pillar, along with the note about the origin of Mega Evolution being in Hoenn, it makes sense that we may travel to a more advanced Hoenn, rather than Alola. However, it feels almost too soon. (Especially, since we were just given all the main legendary Pokémon of that region.)

One could also assume the next Legends game might take place in Unova, especially with all the Unovan legends we are given between both Legends games. However, despite missing some of the main legendary Pokémon of Unova, I feel it's safe to say that we still have a ways to go before that one. (I say this, because although the slow reintroduction of the Unova legendary Pokémon, does feel like a buildup, it doesn't exactly make match the ongoing vibe of release. Although, the Legends games are new territory, so we likely will be thrown something unexpected, again. Just like we did with the Starters and DLC.)

Now, the big details I've been wanting to get into... Dreams. The theme of dreams has been focused and touched on all throughout Legends. In Legends Arceus, no one really noticed Darkrai and the Therian Trio (now turned Quartet with Enamorus). And now, with Mega Dimensions we see Hyperspace—revealed to be formed by dreams themselves especially with Mega Darkrai at the center of it all.

With dreams at the focus, we look towards the one who studies them. Professor Burnet. We got to explore the Interdream Zone with her, back in Pokémon Dream Rader—I hope we see a return of this maybe as a mini game feature. Plus, her reveal to be located in Alola at the Dimensional Research Lab, studying none other than—wait for it—Ultra Wormholes.

Beast Balls are another huge indicator. The constant teasing of these balls exclusively designed to catch Ultra Beasts have been released as special rewards the past few games. And, have now for the first time been added to a Legends game, yet again, without Ultra Beasts to catch them with. It feels like a major foreshadowing of what's to come. (Maybe we'll see variations of the Beast Ball, in the next Legends game. It's a possibility. I like the idea of a more powerful red Beast Ball. But that's just an idea.)

I'm not going to focus on this one for too long, but I did want to give a little shout-out to the Guzzlord theory, which is suggested (in the theory) to be Zygarde (or namely its Cells). As we know Zygarde is somewhat rare. So, this might seem to put a damper on the Zygarde theory. That is until we look towards Zygarde's Cells. As any organism, Zygarde is made up of many Cells (and Cores), which could explain the heavy amount of Guzzlord residing in Ultra Ruin. The thing is cells are generally known to duplicate, and sometimes even mutate. So, if it is true that Guzzlord is Zygarde Cells, then I hope that it is further mentioned (or subtly suggested) in an upcoming game.

Now, that I've taken up more time on the Guzzlord theory than I initially intended (there's a bunch I didn't mention from that by the way). Let's move onto Mega Zygarde. (I will limit as much detail as I can, but potential spoilers may occur for Mega Dimensions.) Sometime after the events of the main game (I kinda forget specifically when), L mentioned that Mega Zygarde's Nihil Light, reminded him of Z-Moves "from the Alola region". Z-Moves were the gimmick introduced shortly after Mega Evolution. An amazing gimmick, which I could definitely see making an appearance in the next Legends game, especially if we went back to Alola.

I'd also would like to mention the mechanics of Winds and Waves (as introduced in the trailer). We see the character dive under the water as they explore the nearby ocean. One might make the assumption that with the return of the Dive feature last seen in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, that the next Legends game would be in Hoenn, as that is the origin of the feature as well as a region surrounded by water. However, it is important to recall that Alola is also surrounded by water, and the perfect candidate for exploring using Dive.

Overall, there could be any number of potential Legends games taking place in any time period. And, despite the evidence for a Legends game taking place in Hoenn or Unova, Alola just seems most compelling based on the evidence and information given. (I do have alternative theories, but this is all I can give at the moment.)

It's important to note that this just a theory (a Game Theory), so none of it is necessarily happening. There's probably some evidence I forgot to mention, but overall I hope this was enjoyable to read. I really hope this theory is right, because I miss the Ultra Beasts, and feel Alola would be a great region to further explore especially with the Ultra Wormholes.

P.S. I had to edit this, due to an accidental premature submission. I hope that if others have already read this, then they may return to see the updates. Thank you very much to any and all who take the time to read this. And I hope others will contribute to the discussion.

Features I hope to see return, plus new features:

  • Ultra Warp Ride (Updated Return)
  • Dream Radar (Game turned New Mini Game)
  • Poké Pelagos (Updated Return)
  • Pokémon Amie (Updated Return)
  • Festival Plaza (Updated Return)
  • Mantine Surfing (Return)
  • Ride Pokémon (Return)

Also, what do you think the next Legends game will be? And why?

I want a Legends Hoenn taking place 3000 years ago, if not that a Legends Johto focusing on the dog trio. But honestly Game Freak needs another shot with Legends Kalos, Z-A was so mid that we need something good like a story based entry focusing on AZ 3000 years ago.

I personally really liked Legends Z-A. Yeah, I would've liked to explore the entire region. And, I'd like to know what happened to Clemont and Bonnie, since the closing (and <Potential Spoilers>) of Prism Tower. But, the expanded Lumiose was great to explore. However, they did remove several exciting locations, didn't bother bringing back the Holo-Caster feature, plus we didn't get to have our fun with the roller skates. (I miss the roller skates...)

However, I'm very happy with how it turned out. For the most part it was executed rather amazingly. Great characters, great scenery (despite all the walls), great story, beautiful emotion. Overall, I'd love to see this Lumiose again, while revisiting a more complete Kalos.

As for Legends taking place in Hoenn, some books in Professor Birch's lab, back in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, do kinda suggest the potential of a Legends game. But, despite the main Legends of Hoenn being released in Mega Dimensions, I feel it is their way of telling us to hold tight for a bit. (Though, again I could be wrong.)

The evidence for a Hoenn Legends game, is there though. I do believe they will touch on each region. However, it feels like they have a story already planned out, which I'm excited to see come to fruition.

Also, I think everyone's rather eager to see the Legendary Beast Trio, back in Johto. And, with Celebi it could be possible. But, I really don't think they're going that direction, just yet.

With that last bit. I don't disagree. Learning about AZ, by existing during his time, and maybe even discovering the true origins of Eternal Flower Floette, would make for a rather exciting entry.

Another note on the Hoenn game. I believe we here from Emma that AZ had mentioned that the origin of Mega Evolution was actually discovered to be from Hoenn. (Which makes sense, based off the Delta Episode in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.)

But, like I keep saying. Everything is strictly speculation at this point. But, it's exciting to think about what might be next. (Personally, I feel there's another DLC hidden in the near future. Which would explain the early reveal of Mega Dimensions. But, who knows, for sure?)

Oh my Arceus! I just just realized something. One constant between Legends Arceus and Legends Z-A, is Darkrai. It is known to have a connection with dreams. But, it has another important detail about it... It's the "Pitch-Black Pokémon".

Okay, so its connection could lead to several potential things. One fairly accurate, leading to "The Darkest Day" in Galar. Which I could definitely see. Another, less likely visiting Unova with Zekrom (the "Deep Black Pokémon"), but it doesn't really feel like it fits, due to Reshiram and Kyurem. And finally, right back to Alola.

This heavily adds to the hint of Alola, because of Professor Burnet, with the dreams. But also, Necrozma. Namely Necrozma's base form (which for now I'll dub its "Void Form" or "Void Necrozma").

Void Necrozma—(Arceus that sounds so cool!)—is pitch black, and is known to absorb light. The connection between Necrozma and Darkrai may be limited to their themes (or maybe I'm forgetting some details at the moment). But, overall, I wouldn't be too surprised, if we did go to Alola, and yet again saw Darkrai.

Sidenote: If we got The Darkest Day in Galar, I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw Darkrai out there as well.

(I think, I'll work on my theory about Eternatus, soon... If it's correct, we may actually see something a tad similar to Gold and Silver's return to Kanto, but with Galar. After all, we did see Ultra Wormholes in Galar, over in the Crown Tundra. And, in the main games, we've only ever seen Ultra Beasts in Alola and Galar. Everywhere else, we've just been teased with the Beast Balls. I don't feel like that's a coincidence.)

I don't trust leaks, and I view them as potential spoilers. And, I really don't get why people feel the need to leak the plot of every game they come across. I get being excited, but let us discover the plot when it releases.

    Two issues with leaks:

    • If they are true, they will spoil big reveals, such as it did with some of the Mega Evolutions I was eager to meet through the game.
    • If they are false, they will get your hopes up for something which may not even occur. (I'm still disappointed we didn't get Mega Mew, Mega Charizard Z, and Mega Mewtwo Z...)

Leaks got my hopes up for Pokémon and features that never occurred, as well as spoiled the games I was eager to explore on my own. When certain details are spoiled, it lessens the impact and enjoyment. (Then, we have fans complaining that it wasn't what they expected or they already saw it coming. Which you can thank leaks for that.)

Anyway, Galar could be plausible, especially with my theory on Eternatus. But if my theory on Eternatus is true, then we may still get Alola. And Eternatus would like appear in the game as well. (Maybe Terapagos as well...)

There's so much potential for the upcoming games. I'm so excited and can't wait to hear more!

I definitely hope we get a Galar Legends game at some point. Though, I feel that way about all the regions.

The leaks got Za megas, and Winds and Waves spot on so I think they're a reliable source. I also try to stay away from story spoilers

    My theory-
They will not do Kanto. Not 100% sure here, they might do like, Legends Mew or something, but anyway.
We've gotten starters from Johto, Alola, Unova. We are not getting their regions.
They won't do one already on the switch. Therefore not Galar or Paldea.
We already got Sinnoh and Kalos.
This leaves Hoenn, and Hoenn is stuffed with Legendary Pokémon like Rayquaza, Kyogre, Groudon, the Regis, etc. So I think it will be Hoenn.

    My idea:

    POKEMON LEGENDS PURPLE

You are in Kanto in the distant future there are paradox pokemon showing up but thats not the main point

Profeser Turo gets at least a small part

    Plot : i don't know

Name : Purple- - -like Violet or mix Red & Blue
