I think Lusamine wasn't really delusional… just a little crazy. She had an obsession with the ultra beasts. And the switch 'doesn't like big open games,' you say. Mario Odyssey? Sonic Frontiers? Scarlet/Violet? Minecraft?

And okay, about the tiger, I said the first thing that came to mind. I'm not a zoologist. And yes, zoos exist, but they're from other places, right? And actually, I was saying about the dex cut that the Pokémon can't be found in the region: makes sense. That you can't bring them from another region? Not as much.

And yes, actually I will say that about Goodra. My theory about some Hisuian Pokémon is that they left the area totally, and moved on to other regions. There they adapted and became the ones we see today.

(PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS MY OPINION AND I AM NOT TRYING TO SAY THAT DP ARE UNPLAYABLE AND THE WORST GAMES EVER MADE. I just think they aren't very good, not that they are awful or terrible or unplayable or disgusting.)

This is probably going to be a controversial take since people only ever criticise the 3D games, but, even if we don't talk about the MUCH worse remakes, Diamond and Pearl are pretty bad. Not the worst things ever made in all of existence, but, especially when compared to Platinum, they're blander than a blank paper. The characters and story aren't very interesting. Some of the characters are fun, sure, but they're not interesting enough to be good. And the story? There is a little bit of interesting stuff, but it's not enough. Platinum had a more interesting story, with all the stuff like the Distortion World, Giratina, and Looker. As for the region, Sinnoh is just ok. It's not a HORRIBLE region like Paldea, it's not fun like Kalos, it's just ok. Also, the contests are annoying. Why did they need to add the dancing minigame, the Hoenn contests were already good. And why did they lock the postgame behind completing the Pokédex?

The reason I didn't say Scarlet and Violet was because even though almost everything other than the story and characters is horrible in SV (especially Paldea, the worst region), the characters and story are REALLY good, they're good enough to save the entire game from becoming the worst Pokémon game ever made in my opinion. Also, it's a lot easier to get a competitive team and train Pokémon, which gives you something to do after you finish the game.

And XY? It's really fun to play, even if the battles are extremely easy and the story isn't that good. It has super fun minigames, the region is super fun to explore, there's a lot of stuff to do, the clothes were AMAZING. XY is pretty overhated since the games felt unfinished and the story was rushed and the characters weren't very good, and it was the point where Pokémon started to rush their games more, but almost everything else about it is amazing in my opinion. Say what you want about the story and characters and difficulty but this was one of the most fun Pokémon games to play in my personal opinion.

DP doesn't have anything that's so good it saves the rest of the game for me. It's not bad, but it doesn't have anything I'd call really good like all the other games.

If we count remakes though it's obviously BDSP which was horrible and awful and the only things I found enjoyable in it were the insane amount of glitches in 1.1. Most of the game was a downgrade from DP's ok-ness into being actually bad with no good points. Seriously, they tried adding harder battles but didn't let the Exp. Share be optional? It's just bad and weird.

He's not even that big! He's a bird that literally flies away if he sees you!

Mario Odyssey isn't open world like BOTW, it is a lot more condensed and more semi-open world like Twilight Princess and Kirby in the Forgotten Land.

Sonic Frontiers struggles even on PC.

Scarlet/Violet, like BOTW, struggles and has a dumbed down art style for it to barely run at 30 fps (with regular fps drops).

Minecraft is a really bad example cause its a game centered around really, really simple graphics and simple gameplay and simplicity.

Worst ≠ bad. The worst example of something can still be good, or even great. It is frustrating that you feel the need to preface your criticism with this caveat.

This is probably going to be a controversial take since people only ever criticise the 3D games

This is definitely not true. While I think the 3D games tend to have more problems than the 2D era, the games are by no means perfect. I myself have repeatedly criticised this era of games. I have expressed my dislike of gen 3, and I think Diamond and Pearl were only improved by Platinum, not "fixed".

Even gen 5, my favourite games, have their own issues that I will willingly point out and criticise them for.

And I am not alone in this. I think the idea that 2D Pokémon games are widely considered to be a perfect era beyond criticism is a fallacy largely purveyed by younger fans who are upset that the more recent games they like are so widely criticised. Part of it is simply that the newer games are more topical and reflective of Game Freak's current design philosophies, and a lot of the criticism of the older games has already been said years ago.

Just as being the worst of something does not necessarily make it bad, being better, or even the best of something, does not inherently make it perfect.

Stop fretting about offending people simply for expressing your own opinion. If what you have to say is supported with good evidence and made in good faith, you do not need to preemptively apologise, even if you are being very critical.

I would rather hear an insightful critique with good supporting evidence explaining why my favourite game is terrible, whether I ultimately am convinced by it or not, than a vapid take praising it simply because it is old or popular.

Okay, sorry about all that. I was just annoyed that I went on a discussion about the worst Pokémon games and the first were my favorites. I'll stop.

(Also Sonic Frontiers didn't struggle for me, nor did violet.)
