I Love The Game/Hate How People Play

Why not make counter decks?
At least that is what i'm trying to doas well, make counter decks against those meta decks, i mean i don't have that many cards yet, but i don't play with premade decks, i rotate between several of my decks, you can try using ERI, this card allows you to discard two of your opponent's item cards, usually they try getting Charizard ex with rare candy, against chien-pao you can try using pokemon that knock energy off, like a regular flareon, slowking or a lugia, or use pokemon that instantly knock your opponent's pokemon out in combination with trainer cards that allow you to take extra prize cards, plenty of strategy if you ask me, im at a 45 vs 62 w/l but tbf im experimenting, i also need to collect more cards to improve and make better decks, even coinflip decks can be powerful, holding your opponent hostage using rescue board in combination with Fezandipiti with Adrena-Pheromone in combination with darkness energy and brute bonnet with toxic powder can also work, or keep your opponent's pokemon confused while you snipe their bench :) i nearly won with just a Vaporeon Ex this way, you can even build a deck without any abilities and use cofagrigus to counter your opponent's ability pokemons.
Just think about what kind of deck you would like to play with and build it, power decks? stall decks? burst decks? disrupt decks? ability decks? no ability decks, heal decks?
Meta is a load of nonsense, people just think their decks are op, until someone comes along and builds a counter deck, then suddenly there is a new meta deck and the circle continues, which is the fatal flaw of meta gaming, its so popular it also gets countered faster unlike your own made decks, which bare to non might know about, and what even happens when players face eachother with meta decks? a draw is rare in this game.
For instance you could use a xaatu/mewto ex deck using a flareon ex over a chien-pao/baxcalibur deck, basically they do the same thing, with the exception of discarding, so the former deck is more powerful than the premade meta deck imo, yet you see the chien-pao deck more often.
Just play with the decks/pokemons you like, they aren't worse then the meta decks, i won games that seemed lost but i managed to turn the game around at a 2/6 and 1/6 prize card difference, where i still had 6 prize cards, and win unexpectedly, most of these meta decks fall off hard once you knock out their powerhouse.

@Kurocaidoz not trying to be mean, but did you even read post an comments. Nobody said they had an issue defeating meta decks. We build our own decks. Been playing long time with large collection.

Than i fail to see the problem, you can't control someone else's choice, alot of new players are also given the same decks, so your're bound to encounter these decks alot, isn't TS saying they are conceding when facing such decks?
I mean ts said it was like a recipe you cooked, that it means they wouldn't be skilled, Ts'd be surprised by how many fail to put down the same dish just following the recipe, a good deck doesn't mean anything, i sometimes get impatient and attack my opponent for instance, if i had waited i would've won the game instead of losing by giving them the advantage, strategy also means to apply what you have in the best possible way you can think of, and even try to think ahead, alot of games are pretty much like this, take chess for instance, pro chess players know known moves, the downside of these moves is that they are known and have known counters, they both get the exact same setup, same pieces and same possible moves, by that standard this game is pretty versatile.
yeah i play with my own decks too, i find that much more fun than any premade deck, i even try out new decks instantly in ranked, i don't have that many cards yet though.

Its facing the same meta deck over an over again. Yes, they can all be countered. Your talking about strategy to beat another persons deck. Dont struggle to defeat them. But its boring facing the same deck again an again.
I seen another post of yours with some of the same complaints i have said. It just isnt fun anymore. I dont speak for everyone. Just keep adding more cards to make it easier to end match on second the turn. More cards that let you easily end the match if you go second.

@Perfect_Jab it's not so much blame on the players here, if the game is matching you against the same deck constantly well that's just a match making issue. I seem to go against lots of different decks regularly.. Rotation is here in a couple of months so after that happens the same decks you refer to shouldn't be happening as alot of current decks will lose alot of staple cards. Hang fire bud

yeah i'm not a fan of burst matches, i prefer the exciting long matches, i had about two of those now, in about 100 ish matches, so i can understand where you're coming from, its been like this for years with tcg games and just about any multiplayer game, at some point years ago ceos and devs decided to make matches as fast as possible, i prefer to call those burst matches, so methods are applied to make matches fast paced, and as @pokemasterdon said its mainly a match making issue, one of the methods used to make a match go fast is to pit you against a deck that counters yours, for instance i have decks with Enamorus V having the ability ''Guardian Love''
''Prevent all effects of your opponent’s Pokémon’s Abilities done to each of your Pokémon that has any Psychic Energy attached, except any Enamorus V.''
coincidentally when i picked a deck without Enamorus V i suddenly found myself facing opponents with nothing but dark pokemons using poison, don't forget the game knows card combinations, and what cards do, so try to switch up decks, what i do is play with a deck until i win, then i switch a deck, some players go for four wins and switch deck, that way you might actually face different opponents with different decks.

I read this the day you posted and had to walk away from it because to echo @Perfect_Jab I believed you missed the point. Being able to control how they play or being able to counter isn't the point. The fact that your solution is to just have counter decks on hand for current metas is a problem. It's the variety and the fact that creativity and individual strategy isn't really pushed by the gameplay to be rewarded. I understand that with TCG's that can be the nature of the beast, it just makes the game less interesting to play. If you're ok going through the motions and playing the same level of a video over and over and you enjoy that, that's fine. It just makes it unfun for people like myself.

@pokemasterdon Some of it falls on players an some n match making. But this was all said already. I feel like people dont read comments or whats said prior to the last comment.
@Kurocaidoz I agree with alot of what you say. But dont need to explain cards an abilities an going into detail. Know how game is played an the cards an their abilities. I said i have alot of decks i put together. An always play different decks. Its part of what was being said already.
I just scroll through all these cards i have an the cool artwork on alot of them. An theres so many that will never get used. So many useless cards.
Make it to the top of battlepass an rank ladder pretty quick, just playing few matches here an there. Rewards dont mean a whole lot anymore. I just dont see next rotation changes anything. Just more cards added to attack an wipe someone out right away.

@Tumberlin I'm actually not a fan of replayability in games tbf, games with multiple endings i just leave alone after playing through the story once for instance, and watching the same videos makes no sense to me either, i just don't look at the decks, i look at the players i'm up against, no battle is the same, even if the deck you're facing is, i also mentioned that it makes no difference whether you face a chien-pao deck vs a mewtwo ex deck using xaatu, i mean im suprised i haven't seen anyone else abuse baxcalibur in a normal deck, that said, the solution is easy, simply start a poll and see how many players want a new ranked/classic mode that only allow/disallow self made/premade decks, and forward the results to the devs, they could then perhaps decide upon a mode that you and maybe many more players could enjoy (me included :)).
@Perfect_Jab sure if the game hands you an instant win its over quick, but this isn't always the case, i've faced many different decks, and i only play ranked, yeah i even try newly made decks out in ranked without testing, i've faced some crazy decks, like azelf/frosslass or a deck soley made for seaking with festival grounds, these matches got me on my toes, both left with just one prize card, i mean some you win, some you lose.
Believe it or not, first time i ever played a pomeon tcg game ''play it!'' was in 99, no pokemon ex or v, very limited cards, this version of pokemon tcg has so many options and best of all, counters against ex and v, i remember being overwhelmed the first time i tried pokemon tcg again seeing pokemon with 200+ health being plopped down like it was nothing, i was like bruh! how is my 40 hp pikachu gonna win? i think the devs did keep in mind that ex/v pokemon are so overpowered they still give you options to play and win with regular pokemon even if their hp is low, keeping the game modern and original at the same time, i can imagine balancing being diffifcult due to this though. (NO I'M NOT ANCIENT!)
Wdym useless cards? all cards have a use, think about how you could use them, and use them, might even surprise you.
You talk about rewards, there were no rewards back then, why not just enjoy the game? why do you need rewards? you play for the rewards only?
I do have to say, i wished they had more modes like a mode where you can play 2 vs 2, maybe a tower mode where you can climb to the top? or a challenge mode where you play the games with a set of rules?
