Should we allow replayable Gyms

Gyms serve as an interesting challenge and this might not need to apply to gyms. But what if after completing a Gym there was a method through spending currency to bring up the Gym again? Or what if we had a generation where trainer battles were faster to start and on certain routes the trainers would constantly want to battle?

Don't gyms become repayable once you beat the Elite Four? I know that wasn't the case for earlier games, but didn't that become the standard in the DS era or so?
I think you should be able to challenge all NPCs again once you beat them, unless there is some story reason why that shouldn't be the case for certain individuals.

Gyms replayable but not the routes
Replayable gyms would have been nice in Gen 2

I would like to see this implemented.
I would love to go back and fight the old gym leaders. That would be a great way to earn levels.

Gyms replayable but not the routes
Gym Leader rematches started with Pokémon Emerald, hence the first Generation to get it in full was Generation 4 with Diamond and Pearl. Yet you'd rematch just the Gym Leader and not the Trainers within. Trainer rematch was first implemented in Generation 2 but it was limited in scope where you would collect certain Trainer's contact information, and they would promptly contact you when they were ready for a rematch. The problem with the latter is that their levels didn't really change much from your first encounter so there really wasn't much of a point in challenging Trainers again. I wouldn't mind seeing both get an update as they say.
