Mobile overheating and battery drain

I've noticed over the past few updates that my mobile phone (typically Samsung Galaxy S22, though sometimes others as well) is really heating up after just 1-2 games. The battery, which typically lasts almost a day with video via Netflix, drops 15-25% per game. If I play 4-5 in a row I risk freezing due to overheating. Considering I experience it on other devices and hear from others that they do as well, it's obviously not an isolated issue. The memory usage is enormous for such a relatively lo-fi game and I dont recall experiencing it as badly a few updates back, though it was still an issue. Any ideas as to how to reduce this issue until it's properly fixed?

Hey there, @Epiales001. That doesn't sound good, let's get this over to our support team for review! They can gather all the necessary information and see what's going on. To do that, go to support.pokemon.com, click on the Pokémon Trading Card Game Live link, and then hit "Contact Us." Thanks again for helping us improve the game!

I have no idea why, but I have the same problems. I will follow @Mod_Bee’s advice, but I really hope that this gets fixed soon. My phone is a IPhone 13 mini, so it is probably software, and not hardware that is causing overheating.

I have the same problem on a Google Pixel 6A. The phone gets so hot that it feels like the processor is throttling, and the game slows down. All the movements of the cards become sluggish.

The app is far from being optimized for mobile devices (regarding overall performance), TCG Live devs said themselfs they will work on optimizing it in future updates...

So far nothing significant was done, I guess other more critical stuff had priority, so lets hope they will adress this seriously... I had to stop playing on my phone due to this exaggerated overheating and battery drain issues.

i'm new to the game, just tried ptcg pocket and wanted to try this one, but just looking at the decks and reading the card effects my device gets up to 45°, so I can't believe that I'm not even in a match and the game is already making my phone suffer. So I guess I won't playing this for a while. Maybe I'll try the desktop version

This issue has been happening since PTCGO, and this game is designed for and optimized for tablets, hence all the drag options when you play it on PC. This is not something that will be fixed as very little budget is being provided for anything but adding new cards-there are bugs that have been known for months and even they are not a priority, but Pocket is as that is now a massive money maker. Hopefully the success of Pocket will show the dev team and funding agencies in the Pokemon world that this game needs some love too.

This game is optimized for tablets? nice joke… it doesn't even support landscape mode using iPad, the battery drains faster than any other "no 3D" mobile game I've played, and even in a tablet there is unused empty space…
What is optimized about it… the drag & drop? lol sure what an amazing optimization for a mobile app, it allows you to drag & drop wow they have really outdone themselves…

The old TCG Online was never ment to be played on any kind of mobile devices, there were ways to play it but that was never a really serious thing…

The success of TCG Pocket will only make TCG Live worst and that is already happening.

If you don't know what you are talking about better say nothing at all.

My laptops get burning hot when I'm on Live. Pretty crazy, considering how low tech Live is. (should be). If you look at the app processes, the memory usage is sky-high.
