Purposely close/disconnect instead of conceding

Is anything being done to track and punish players who just disconnect or force close the app when they're losing just to waste the winner's time? They will lose no matter what, but the remaining player has to wait out the timer.

In many of those cases it's indeed bad sport sure... but you're assuming they just want to waste your time, when they actually may not want to waste their own time.

Anyway the answer to your question is no, people are allowed to close the app whenever/however they want for whatever reason and they shouldn't be punished for that.

I mean it’s a mobile game so there is generally a lot of reasons why someone would take a while or the app would close. This could be connection issues, wifi, cellular, someone getting interrupted in real life, bugs, getting a phone call etc.

I think if anything the timer should be lowered a bit.

As others said, it's difficult to distinguish between genuine connection issues and deliberate closing of the app.

Perhaps there should be some kind of punishment or restriction if it becomes consistent behaviour. For example, you could be banned from searching for games for the rest of the day if it happens three times in the same day.

At that point it is either deliberate or you need to resolve your connection issues.

But at any rate, a win is a win. At least the game doesn't declare it a draw.

And on TCG Live people complain about both people conceding instantly and not letting them play out the win, and not conceding and wasting their time.

There will never be a perfect solution that makes everyone happy. No one can even agree on what is the correct and polite way to lose a game.

Yes, disconnects can occur but there are times where's its clear they cannot win so they disconnect out of spite. Indo not agree with you on them now wanting to waste their own time. They don't have to finish out the game. They can just use the concede option instead of just closing out and making the other person wait it out.

I didn't even say for there to be punishments for every disconnect. I'm sure there are game logs for these and it shouldn't be too hard to see individuals who have a disproportionate number of disconnects that only happen at higher rounds. That would be a telltale sign of this behavior.

I don't think there's any right way to tackle this issue, especially since the game isn't very stable to say the least. Just today I played 4 games and I had to restart the app in the middle of 3 of them since I searched my deck and no cards appeared for me to select so I was not able to select the concede option because I was stuck in the deck search menu.
