Would need the battle log to be sure. But I would suspect that something switched off iron thorns ability or maybe the opponent just manually powered it up other the previous turn and turn they evolved it. Two energies is not much and the use of magmer basin or something else to get energy to it can be easily missed when you are thinking you can't use zard ex but they can just manually attach energy

you misunderstood what I said. I'm aware it doesn't stop them. I'm not a noob. What I'm saying is I was able to keep using my vstar attack after having already used it. You know, the thing you're only supposed to be able to use once a game. Read better 🤦
