If the upcoming pokemon game will take place in the 1900s era Kalos, Most likely not only the redevelopment of Lumiose city but also dismiss the older legends in favor of progress for steam engine and such. There are researchers want the protagonist to uncover the secrets of the ancient Kalos as not only zygarde but also Yveltal and Xerneas are at the brink of reawakening.

    @TacoLaser An ancestor of Professor Sycamore's will be the professor where the Lumiose Museum's board of directors unanimously reject his expedition proposal. And the protagonist saw Sycamore's ancestor chasing one of board members as he race to the car into reconsidering about his expedition proposal and fund it.

    arceus sends you through space time you land in kalos and do quest to only be betrayed by the people you work for join the x clan or y clan to stop catastrophic event get betrayed by someone you thought was friendly

    I still think that Pokémon Legends Z-A could be set in the future, where a new Lumiose City is being redeveloped for people and Pokémon to coexist together, I think there could be a place underneath Lumiose like the Terarium where the biomes and each Pokémon are divided , and to be honest, I think that Unova and Kalos are the regions that have something more futuristic in their stories, so I suspect that the game takes place in the future
