According to ElChicoEevee on X, the end of Unite could be coming very soon..

We could apparently be getting an announcement on October 27th regarding the end of service for Unite.

Idk about y'all, but the main question going through my head is how far are they taking "EoS"? Are they taking down Unite in its entirety? In every region? Only some" And even still, are they keeping the servers up?

What are your thoughts?

I did note that it's speculation(aka rumor) BUT... When you no longer have exposure with other game formats(TCG and VGC), when you bring new Pokémon into the game and basically give them away for nothing(not that Id complain about that but they don't even have you work for it) and the lack of Eevee Festival huzzah points to a winding down and closure of Unite. May not happen in 2026 but it's a strong possibility that 2027 may be the last. All depends on how well their stand-alone Tournament does in March of 2027(which will open up qualifying in December).

If the Tournament does well on its own, then maybe Unite will keep kicking but if activity falls off because people sense the end is near, then Unite will pull back. Japan is their most active spot but at the end of the day it's a business. They may just pull the plug and close it down altogether.

There's also the possibility that they announce a sequel game that is in development but I don't put much stock in that. What would the sequel game provide that the current one couldn't?

Until there is an official statement I won't assume anything.

If I had to guess the announcement, it'll be the Tournament they're holding in Tokyo that I mentioned above and that qualifying begins in December for it. Not sure what competitions they will hold for qualifying but I'd assume that would be mentioned as well.

In addition perhaps an overhaul of the game with a bit of a balance pass, removal of License(who likes that honestly) and other changes to try and attract players back.

Otherwise it'll just be a nothing burger and Unite will die a slow "who didn't see that coming" death.

The China version will absolutely continue, but I kinda saw the end of the other versions coming ever since license journeys, comfey bots, and one moveset overpowered mons came and ruined the game. They had an oppurtunity to save unite, but they didn't take it, and as a result the playerbase bombed significantly. While it is just speculation, Chico is a very reliable source and most of the evidence points to a shutdown. I wouldn't be suprised if service ended in 2027.
