Why are there so many reported bugs in this game?

I've never played the game, but it's like there's a new bug every hour. Whenever I look at the Hot/Trending Topics section, half of it is TCG bugs being talked about, and there aren't even posts without comments there!

It makes me wonder if this game is even playable or just how badly Pokémon messed up. You all make it look like Gen 1 has fewer bugs and glitches, it's like a big joke that I don't even know is a joke.

Does this game even get updates other than when a new pack releases?

Yes, it does and it has frequent maintenances but I agree with you there. This game shouldn't have left beta so soon as it did. I would have left it in beta for at least 6 months longer if I had a say in this.

6 months wouldn't be enough. Maybe 6 years.

It is a young development team with a small budget. It wouldn't have mattered if they kept calling it "beta" for another 6 months. Majority of the time, the game works fine with maybe minor bugs appearing.
