How do you decide how you like a game?
What do you look at to determine whether you like the game? (unless its just 'I like this one because I do')
Mine would be charm. If the game decently charming, its good. If its very charming, its VERY good. If it has little or no charm, my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

I just started playing a new game, it's difficult to get into because it's not super intuitive (for me). So I would say 1. Flow 2. Storyline 3. Visually appealing

My criteria is rather simple. Does it have Vulpix(Kanto or regional form, ideally Alolan because I love Ice). If neither version has my Kitsune Fox, I'm really hesitant to get it. What's the makeup of the Dex and what version has which Pokemon(so I suppose I should add version exclusives but overall the Dex matters). Finally what are the starters and what do they eventually become? I typically find at least one I like but if all three are meh then I'm less inclined to get it.

For me it's mainly enjoying combat, making sure it's not redundant, and having a good post-game.

This is my criteria ranking:
- Gameplay, the most important aspect of a game. Having a proper gameplay loop make the experience enjoyable and in general if a game isn't fun to play then it isn't appealing.
- Performance, can't have a New Vegas level of polish now can we?
- World building/story, they are equally as important because if you don't have a good story it's harder to keep the player invested. Same with the story, if the world doesn't feel like a genuine world that feels lived in it just feels like a plain lump of nothing.
- Soundtrack, a great tunes mean a great listening experience.
Personally I believe that the gameplay is the most important aspect of any game, it gives the player a reason to stick to the game as it is genuinely interesting to play and a fun experience. Performance is obvious, bug fests are not appreciated but if the game is fun it can be toughed out. With story driven games that lack gameplay you could also argue that the story is appealing enough to stick with it but to that I argue if the gameplay is decent at best and the story is the only reason to stick with it why not just watch it like a movie through a lets play or something and experience the story without being burdened with the gameplay. World building goes hand in hand with story because sure the story may be alright but the world also tells the story, look at Dark Souls and similar games. Soundtrack matters but at the end of the day it's complimentary to good gameplay and story, but proper sound design matters a lot Halo is a good example.
