Rumoured Pokémon MMO
There are rumours of a Pokémon MMO coming, possibly following or as part of gen 10. I have no idea how credible they are, but what do you think of the concept?
While it may sound like a nice idea on paper, I am sceptical of Game Freak's ability to deliver on it. They struggle to get their single player games functioning with much stability, never mind with the added complications of networking and connecting to servers. The gen 9 co-op wasn't all that impressive.
If another company is developing it, then obviously it will largely depend on the company. If it is outsourced, I hope they give them the resources to actually run a sizable MMO and don't expect them to run it on a shoestring budget. I don't doubt they will be charging a pretty penny in subscriptions for a Pokémon MMO.

I want to be optimistic but yeah all I can see are limited time cosmetics and in game microtransactions everywhere.

Only model that works to me is a Mystery Dungeon style MMO where you join a Pokemon Guild and go on quests and what not as a Pokemon that you really like. The class you pick is to your playstyle or preference and the moves/abilities you learn are going to be based on your species but also your class. In a way it's kind of how id envision a Pokemon Daggerheart game to be if you think about it.

i don't think handheld technology is there for layering(sharding is a bad word; sharding is bad). And MMOs are based on travelling. The better ones have art that pull you in by their beauty, not realism, and the nostalgia moments are what drive going from one part of a zone to another. Every part can be memorable.
which is why I dondon't think an MMO is best because I play pocket monsters to remember the Pokedex. Would I still play, yes, if it was better than my favorite MMOs. They are a big time investment.

Ummmmm what would the objective of the MMO be? Battling? Is this why they are slowly offing the already existing MOBA? I know they're way different.... but it makes you wonder....

Honestly I wouldn't mind an MMO where you can be a trainer exploring the regions but I would also like a solid single player offline mode.

Well, unfortunately, despite how fun it is, Unite was practically a failure financially..
If these rumors are true then the Big Pikachu just wants to redeem himself in that field.
However, if these rumors are true, that also means a Unite shutdown is not very far off..

The objective would probably be the very best like no one ever was, to catch them is the real test but to train them is the cause.
