Detailed financial data isn't public, but what we can access gives an approximate picture.
Last year Unite generated around $15m which is underperforming compared to other MOBAs and even stuff like Pokemon Sleep ($40m).
It's far from a shutdown tho... it is in a cost reduction phase, because MOBAs are very expensive to run due to server costs... but don't forget it's backed by the Pokemon IP, they want to keep a foothold in the MOBA genre.
The future of Unite is simple, they will keep cutting costs, maybe increasing monetization and still rolling out regular updates to keep the remaining player base active without heavily reinvesting into actual large new content.

Yeah, that makes sense.
Out of curiosity.... The other MOBAs it is being compared to, are they less restrictive or geared towards an older audience? Do they automatically lock you out of your account, for no good reason more than half the time, without recourse/appeals? Those things might make a difference as to the bottom line.
Then again, maybe Unite MOBA is typical of other MOBAs (but from what I've heard, it is different, and that can be a really good thing or not, depending on your viewpoint).

Only other MOBA I'm aware of is League of Legends and since I don't play either game, I can't specify what one is doing better than the other. Even so, Pokémon IP is popular enough that it will keep going. It just won't have National or World Championships anymore. It might have regional(USA/Europe/Asia) or far more localized Tournaments but that's about it and even then is that bad so long as the game is still going?
Just be glad you're not Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (which hasn't had anything in years).
