Pokémon High School Life 7
Charz soars through the air to school much more excited than usual. Yesterday, Zane the Infernape and Jay the Blastoise, two of the coolest guys in the football team, asked him to hang out with them today! The Charizard tries really hard to be popular, but nobody has really cared about him except his current friend group. Now, though, is his chance to get more friends!
As he descends, he sees the two standing by the door waiting for him. Zane is casually leaning against the wall, one hand in the pocket of his black leather jacket and the other scrolling through PokeGram. Jay is jamming out to something in his earbud, lost in the world of music. It kind of reminds Charz of Tric, only this guy is much louder, making guitar sounds as he stomps around. The Infernape looks up as the Charizard lands, smiling at him as he puts his phone away.
"Charz," he exclaims, wrapping an arm around the Fire/Flying's shoulder as they begin to walk. "Just the man I was waiting for! You did awesome in the game last night."
"Yeh, yeh. The way you flied down the field was sick, bro," Jay agrees, following closely behind.
"Aw, thanks guys," Charz says, blushing slightly from all the praise. "You guys were really good out there, too!"
"Yeah, I know," Zane replies with a smirk. "I'd say us three are the best on the team. We gotta stick together, right?"
"Absolutely," the Charizard agrees. As they walk down the hall, they pass Vee and Gwen. "Oh, hold on. I need to go greet my friends."
"We're your friends, though," Zane states, his smile briefly faltering to threatening expression before going back to normal in the blink of an eye.
"Yeah, I know, but-" Charz begins to argue, but then Jay gets awfully close.
"Ya can talk to 'em later," the Water type growls lowly. "You're hangin' wit da high and mighty right now, but we can easily change that."
While Charz doesn't like being threatened, he definitely doesn't like the chance of losing his shot at popularity. So, as they pass the girls that give him a friendly wave, he keeps walking, completely ignoring them. He hears Vee say "Well, that was weird," as he passes but he tries his best to ignore it.
I've got to do this, he thinks with determination. This is how I'll get everything I've ever wanted!
— Lunch Time —
Vee, Gwen, Tric, and Aquaria are sitting at their usual lunch table. They are all staring at Charz, who hasn't even glanced at them and is sitting with an Infernape and Blastoise that they recognize from the football team. Vee doesn't get it. Why is he ignoring them?
"You know, we passed him in the hallway this morning," Gwen tells the others as she aggressively rips her 50000 Poke steak apart. "Gave him a friendly wave and he just kept going. SO disrespectful!"
"That's very unlike him," Aquaria states with confusion. "Why would he do that?"
"I don't know," Vee answers sadly, her ears drooping as she watches Charz leave the room without even saying a word to them. The hardest part is that he looks so happy, always smiling at everyone. But the Sylveon knows him well enough to see that the smile doesn't reach his eyes. No matter how well he acts, she can see that it's fake and knows something is up.
"Maybe he's just found a new, better friend group," a cruel voice says from behind them, immediately making the mood worse. The whole squad turns with a groan and sees Thur standing there with the smuggest of smug smirks. "I mean, I know if I were him I would ditch y'all the moment the opportunity came!"
"You're wrong," Vee tells him confidently. "Charz would never completely leave us!"
"Yeah! He's too good of a best friend for that," Sire adds, making everyone jump.
"WHERE THE HECK DID YOU COME FROM!?" the Umbreon exclaims, looking utterly terrified.
"It all started with my mom meeting my dad," the Clodsire begins.
"I DIDN'T MEAN HOW YOU CAME TO THE EARTH!!!" Thur shouts. "You know what? I'm good here. See you around losers." He then glares at Sire. "But not you, weirdo."
"What if he's right," Tric mutters as soon as Thur is completely gone. This is the first time Tric has spoke since seeing Charz ignore him, and he sounds heartbroken. "What if Charz is ditching us for the more popular people. You know how badly he wants to be cool."
"No," Vee states with finality, standing up from her seat. "We have been there for Charz through thick and thin. We have been there for him when nobody else has. We have given him nothing but love and care. And he has always done the same for us. There's no way he's just throw us away so easily!"
Tric nods but doesn't look convinced. Instead of saying anything else, he puts his ear buds in and starts eating, not talking again for the rest of lunch.
I don't know what's going on, Vee thinks as she sits back down to eat her own meal. But I'll figure it out soon.
— Final Class of the Day —
Vee and Charz share this class. It is World History taught by Homare the Armarouge. He is currently talking about the Darkest Day, something Vee is normally interested in. However, having Charz right next to her keeps her mind occupied. This is the only chance she's got to force him to acknowledge her! He can just ignore her over text. She knows passing notes aren't allowed, but she's gotta do it.
Why are you ignoring us, the Sylveon demands on her paper, which she slides over to the Charizard. He looks down at the note, glares at Vee, glances around, and then reads it. He shakes his head and scribbles something on it before passing it back.
Leave me alone, is all it says, which upsets Vee more.
V: No! Are you really ditching us?
C: Back off and drop it.
V: You can't be serious! After all we've been through?
C: Vee! Enough! Please.
Not until you e- Vee doesn't get to finish her response because Mr. Homare swipes the paper away from her.
"Passing notes, are we," he asks as he reads the paper. "Wow, this looks serious. Why don't you two just handle it out loud? The stage is yours."
Normally Vee wouldn't take the platform a teacher gives like that, but she wants to get to the bottom of this. "Why are you abandoning us," she immediately questions.
"Vee," Charz growls, looking around him at all the others staring at them. "I'm begging you to stop."
"No," the Sylveon states with finality. "Not until you answer me!"
"You want an answer," Charz asks, finally getting mad. "I'll give you one! I'm done with you guys! I've found a better friend group! Ones that I like more! Yeah, our time together was great, but it's time to move on! Happy?"
Vee blinks a couple times, holding back her tears. "Yup," she mutters, facing back to the board. "Happy."
"Wow," Homare says as he looks between the two of them. "That was pretty sad. Anyways, detention for both of you for passing notes. You'll just stay here after class."
"Thanks a lot, Vee," Charz growls lowly at her. The Sylveon doesn't listen, though. She can't believe what she just heard.
"Anyways, as I was saying," the teacher states as her continues the lesson. "The Darkest Day was caused by Eternataus…"
I'll let the next person write the detention
