If the character had absolutely no brain they would say "Delphox is one of the worst starters," but they just have a small one, making them insult Chikorita instead.

I'm sorry, but Mega Starmie is the second best Mega they've ever made. Not all of them have to be serious or cool, jokes are fun. Plus, it's a reference to some alien tropes and movies.
