Why?

Full National Dex or at least possible to move any Pokémon over via HOME
A good villain that isn't either a a) unrealistic quitter (looking at YOU, Giovanni), b) "they're just misunderstood!" and acts like they were never bad, or c) a raging psycho.
A fun cast of characters (you had me with Z-A's cast for the most part, Nintendo, don't screw up now!!!)
Back to turn-based: real time was fun, but I gotta get back to the basics.
Good Pokemon desgins that aren't just 'Wiglett' and 'Gigglypuff'.
Compelling legendaries that aren't sandwich obsessed motorcycles.
RED IS A PERFECTLY NORMAL HAIR COLOR NINTENDO (ok it's not normal but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be there!!!)1 -
hes in every single game basically, minus the legends

Multi-Player: Not online multiplayer. I hate those. I mean we can pick up a second remote and play with a friends. This would go great with the mini-games I was talking about.
That is a weird one, but given that Pokémon won't even let you have multiple save files (and multiple Switch accounts only recently became a work around) and that they expect to sell two versions of the same game to "encourage trading", I doubt they will allow any multiplayer that doesn't require each player to have their own Switch and copy of the game.
World Type: Open World or Closed doesn't bother me. I'm happy either way.
If implemented well, there is no reason either can't be great. The problem with SV was that they tried to slap their usual linear design onto a big open world, with little thought for how it would affect pacing, progression or the verisimilitude of it during gameplay.
If the next game is open world (which like 3D, it has to be, or normies will see it as a step backwards) they need to pay greater attention to detail.
And for goodness sake, do not waste processing power rendering an ocean multiple times the size of your map at all times.

I would like a third version again. The streamlining of which pokemon can be caught is why I always play the third version. Gamers like me love differences in my games and having an official release be something that makes me nostalgic for the same region is something I want.
I do want more detail in the open world. Items seem like they fell in a volcano explosion. I wish there would have been more buildings to enter and items hidden away if they are a big power up. Running and finding a life orb in the open feels great but why didn't I work for it?
I disagree about water. I want lots of water in my pokemon games. Hoenn or Kanto are iconic for having water. Each have a different vibe so let's do it again.

I don’t want a third version because I’ll have to play the game again and the old versions will be forgotten and when they remake the game in the future people will complain they didn’t remake all 3
