You head over to where Denki is and put some distance between y'all before sending out Floragato. "I'm ready," you tell him, your partner meowing in agreement.

"Great," the Gym Leader responds happily. "Then battle begin!" As soon as those words are said, Luxio glares at Floragato with a growl, sending shivers down the cat's spine. the Grass type glows blue with a stat decrease.

"Intimidate," you observe. "That's an Attack decrease. So we'll just use special attacks! Go, use Magical Leaf!"

Floragato spins its yo-yo flower, sending a flurry of glowing leaves at the opponent. The lion braces itself as the swarm of green hits it, pushing it back slightly. "We can handle that," Denki says. "Use Thunder Fang!"

Luxio leaps out of the Magical Leaf and bites Floragato with teeth of lightning. The cat winces slightly but doesn't seem too phased. "Not very effective," you state happily. "Use Seed Bomb!"

Your partner slams its yo-yo into the lion's head, causing the Electric type to stumble back a bit. However, Luxio seems mostly unscathed. "Quick, use Charge Beam," your opponent commands.

Luxio quickly gathers electricity before launching it all at Floragato. Because of how close they are, you Pokémon doesn't have time to dodge, getting blasted back by the move. "Are you oaky," you ask. The Grass Cat nods with a determined grunt. "Good. Use Magical Leaf!"

Floragato swirls its yo-yo, shooting many leaves from it. "Counter with Swift," Denki shouts. Luxio growls, summoning some stars around it. Then, it launches them at the incoming attack, causing a small explosion.

"Now's your chance," you say. "Quick Attack!"

The Grass type dashes through the cloud of smoke, ready to hit an unsuspecting Luxio. However, the target isn't there when the cat leaps at where it was. "We used the smoke to get out the way," the Gym Leader tells you with a smirk. "Now! Use Bite!"

The lion leaps out from the right side of the dark cloud, chomping down on Floragato. The Grass Cat mewls with pain as it tumbles backwards. Your partner slowly rises to its feet, wincing slightly. "A critical hit," you mutter. Now you're getting a bit worried. "Didn't expect that…"

"I know," Denki agrees. "I didn't see that coming!"

"We're not going to let that bother us," you tell him. "Magical Leaf! Keep it going until Luxio is out!"

Floragato immediately gets to it, spinning that yo-yo non-stop. The bright green leaves just keep coming and coming, completely covering the opponent. You can't even see Luxio anymore with how much leaves there are! You hear a howl from the lion and that's when the cat stops, revealing an unconscious Luxio.

"Not a bad move," Denki says as he returns his Pokémon. "But you won't be able to pull it off twice."

At first you're confused by what he means, but one look at Floragato and you immediately understand. It is exhausted, panting heavily after the amount of energy it used to do that. The Gym Leader sends out a Pikachu that growls aggressively upon release.

Weird spot to end this but here's your opportunity to switch
