We need stricter penalties for malicious teammates

the ranked match experience is either you lose because someone disconnected or you lose because your teammates chose to NEVER help in a team fight, chose to NEVER go to objectives, and chose to NEVER help at Kyogre. WE NEED STRICTER PENALTIES! 5 years of this game and yall still haven’t figured out how to ban malicious players but it’s because I’m not asking you nicely enough or filing enough support requests when EVERY OTHER MOBA game has figured this out

Unite it's very poorly managed, I stop expecting for significant improvements long ago…

One easy improvement may be to allow a team of 4 (friends/Unite Squad) with 1 random, to play ranked instead of the 1-3 person or 5 person requirements to enter a ranked match.

If you've got your friends/battle buddies on your team, you get to know how each other plays (even without voice chat), can cover for each other when those "Oh-No!" moments like quick Unite server "reconnecting" issues happen (which is NOT the players' fault, yet we get penalized??), and if that one random person is intentionally malicious, a win can still be pulled off. I've done it and been on random teams that do it too.

And remember, don't surrender immediately after Kyogre is defeated.... I have been on teams when we still pulled a win after losing Kyogre (yet someone ALWAYS immediately puts up a surrender vote. Why even surrender at all? Does it save your battle record or something, because I haven't noticed a difference. Enlighten me please, what the point of a surrender is, except to annoy teammates who want to keep playing & pushing till the end, and clogs up our playing field screen and to make jumping/spring boarding up to defend a goal at a critical moment almost impossible). Sigh.

Yep, playing with friends may be the answer. If you don't have friends, well all I can say is.... make some like I did, through playing casual, quick, & yes, ranked.... invite the people back to play a round or two with you if your playing style meshes well with them, then friend request them, cultivate that friendship by playing matches with them & getting to know their strengths &weaknesses. You know, just be a friend and play. (Sorry, I was rambling, but this all needs to be said)

    Good luck.

The point of surrendering (at least for me anyways) is to spend less time in a match you basically know you aren't going to win.

and yes they REALLY need to fix matchmaking, i got the same person on the opposing team three matches in a row.

Yeah, if you battle again immediately you might get the same teams or individuals again. Remember that the other people might be grinding out ranked as well. To try to get out of that loop, wait a few minutes, check your missions/events, or play a quick battle, then go back to ranked. Good luck!

Whenever possible, especially in ranked, I fight till the end. I don't give up easily. Yes, occasionally due to overwhelming surrender votes being called every so many seconds, I'll give in, especially when it's clear that the person or persons who want to surrender just sit at home base not defending the goal zones or they out-vote me. Ranked costs points each time to play. The higher up you go, the more it costs. I play to win, and yes, sometimes the win can be pulled off, as long as you don't surrender. Sometimes, there's nothing that can be done except to go down with honor and fight till the end. Hmmm... I feel the need for a good Klingon saying here, lol.

The mods here are not even letting me post about how people are falsely getting bans.

TLDR; We can’t tell why someone has been disconnected, so we can’t accuse them all of being malicious rage quitters (case in point: last season’s constant server disconnects in ranked). But I agree that those rare, truly malicious idlers should lose at least 20 fair play points and a day of play. />

I agree that malicious players should get stiffer penalties. But malicious idlers are very difficult to identify with 100% accuracy. As the recent ability issues have taught us, all those ppl that we thought were disconnecting were kicked by the servers. So basically only those who purposefully go into the bushes or base and move around just enough to not be dinged for idling or rage quitting can be unequivocally and rightly penalized. It stinks that there is no way to know whether someone disconnected due to maliciousness or due to their unwittingly being disconnected via Unite server issues, device failure (battery dies on mobile, Switch) or Internet failure. I can’t tell you how many times I was disconnected (up until recently) through no fault of my own (Unite Servers) and then got penalized. So we can’t just assume that everyone who disconnects is rage quitting. However, for those who base sit or hide in bushes and still move a fraction of an inch to avoid idling (I’ve only seen it a handful of times out of thousands is games) they should lose 20 fair play points at the very least. Maybe losing a day of play will deter them from doing this in the future. Sad reality is that there’s not really a cost-effective way for them to do this. As far as I can tell, you’d have to have humans pouring over 10 minutes of footage for every report. I don’t know how computers would do it since they seem to only notice actual disconnects or idling of 1+ minutes.
