Lance's Point of View

This is it! An opportunity to become the hero I've dreamed of for so long! What else could she possibly mean? "Please, my Queen," I say with a small bow. "Continue."

She give me a side eye. "I already planned on continuing but thanks for your permission," she responds sarcastically. That Armarouge chuckles, and even though he doesn't have a mouth, I swear he's smirking.

"I'm sorry for his interruption," the Fire Warrior states. "Please, continue when you are ready."

Her majesty nods. "Alright. So, there is a Charizard calling himself a dragon that has been burning down villages. I need y'all to go take care of it."

"How do you know we will accept this quest," I question. I'm gonna play hard to get and try to negotiate good rewards for me for doing this.

"Because y'all both attempted to join my army," she answers. "Y'all were desperate to become a soldier, so I know y'all want this to become part of my Guard."

"Why can't you let us in before we do this," I ask. "I've already taken the test, so you can see how qualified I am to fulfill this role."

"Yes, I can," she confirms. "You failed the tests miserably and is in no way, shape, or form qualified to be part of my Royal Guard."

Miserably? I failed miserably? I knew there was a reason I wasn't accepted, but I didn't expect it to be due to me being incapable. The Armarouge snickers at this, which does no go unnoticed by the Queen.

"I don't know why you're laughing," she states. "You failed just as badly as he did."

"Oh..." the Fire type mutters sadly, much to my joy. "Okay, wait. Why would you want two Pokémon that aren't qualified to serve in your army to take care of the Charizard? Wouldn't it be better to send someone you know can handle the job?"

I hate to admit it, but he has a point. It doesn't make sense. "Well, y'all are my only options," the Queen replies. "I have to stay here at the castle for things like protection and public image and I have most of my guards on a more important job."

"So we're a last resort," I say.

"Correct," Shiny Gardevoir confirms. "But this is a good opportunity for y'all because if you're successful then it will prove y'all are capable and I'll let y'all become soldiers."

"What happens if we fail," I ask.

"One of two things will happen in order for you to fail," she tells us. "Either you decline this offer and y'all will go home looking like pathetic fools or you accept and Charizard kills y'all. Those are the only things that could cause y'all to fail."

"So either accept and have a split chance at glory or death, or decline and have our families disappointed in us," Armarouge summarizes.

"I accept," I say without a second thought. My family is already disappointed in me, so I don't want to add to that. Plus, I'm pretty positive I can handle this.

Armarouge contemplates for a bit. "Alright," he finally says. "I'll do it."

"Perfect," the Queen exclaims with a smile. "Good bye! See you when you win!"

"Good bye, your majesty," I reply with a dramatic bow and wink. She doesn't look that interested in it.

"Bye," my new companion tells her with a wave. Me and him then leave the Queen, going back down the hall. "So, wanna tell your family what's going on and then meet up at the West exit of the village?"

I shake my head. "I'd prefer to just leave," I tell him.

"Oh, well, I want to at least tell my family bye before we go," he says. I sigh.

"Fine. You can go do that and then slay the wanna-be dragon," I state, wanting to start as soon as possibly.

Switching to Homare.

"I can't believe it," my mom exclaims with joy. "Our son will save the kingdom!"

"That's right," I confirm, stuffing some food into my backpack.

"You know, your grandma once did a similar thing," my dad tells me. "She protected Jeremy the Noble from a Decidueye assassin."

"Look at you, following in your family's footsteps," my mom admires. "Becoming Armarouge and serving royalty. You never fail to fulfill our expectations!"

For once, there isn't an "unlike your sister" following that statement. I guess Dad finally learned not to say that. "I'm happy I'm making y'all proud," I say as I hug them.

I then head to the front door, waving as I leave. I then set off West exit to meet up with Lance. I can't wait to begin this journey!

Alright, so I don't like how short Homare's part is

But, it's okay
