Scarlett First Impressions(Switch 2) and more

I know I'm several years late when it comes to Generation 9, but I wanted to give my first impressions with it on the new Switch 2 that I got a few days ago. All the instances of the game running choppy on the old Switch look to be a thing of the past with the Switch 2. Very fluid animation and short loading times so far. Battery life on the Switch 2 could be better I'll admit(probably the only con on the System so far) but otherwise no complaints.

I struggled when picking my starter for my inaugural run. All 3 options are viable and well worth the pick, but I opted to roll with the Fire Croc because I really like Fire/Ghost on Skeledirge. The rest of my team is still in a tentative state because I'm floored by the amount of early route Pokémon available. May not mean much to those who've played recent Generations like Gen 7 or 8 but for someone such as myself coming from Generation 1(yeah… I'm pretty bad lol), it's quite a shock since the most I could feasibly catch before the first Gym was 10 Pokémon(Starter, Pidgey, Rattata, both Nidorans, Mankey, Spearow, Caterpie, Weedle and Pikachu(which is your starter in Yellow and Weedle isn't in that version)). I'm currently at 26 species and I'm not even at Mesagoza yet, hence 4 away from a Thunderstone to get an early Raichu or perhaps Jolteon when I find an Eevee.

Got an early Ralts(male) that looks to be an early team member. It rolled Trace, which if I'm not mistaken becomes Sharpness when it becomes Gallade and that is one thing I want to see in action(Sacred Sword getting bumped by STAB AND Sharpness… Scope Lens with this will be like a hot knife through butter when you add Night Slash, Aqua Cutter and Psycho Cut). Also got a Cloud Nine Psyduck. Not the strongest Water Type on Base Stats I could get but having a niche Ability makes it a strong contender for making my final team. Rest of the team will probably be Skuntank(version exclusive that fills in two roles: Double battle for Ryme and dealing with Ortega), Toedscruel(Spore user + Ground type) and my personal favorite Pokémon in Alolan Ninetales(will be trading for one despite the fact I can get one in the post-game).

I'll update this thread more as I continue my playthrough. Hopefully it doesn't take me that long to 100% this(which is asking a lot given Kitakami + Blueberry Dexes).

No rush on it btw. Besides… I have to catch something to offer in exchange so what do you feel like? Anything in particular or would anything I find do? Keep in mind, my options are rather limited given I haven't reached Mesagoza yet so pretty much all I can offer are the early route Pokémon. Kind of surprised on how many Baby Pokémon there are on the early routes but maybe that's by design since breeding them can be a royal pain with the Incense and what not. Also note, I have to familiarize myself with moder Trading. It's not like it was back when I first started 25+ years ago with Link Cables lol. At least I have NSO for the next year so Trading Online shouldn't be too much of an issue.

    Anything will do

I just want you to have your Alolan Vulpix

When we get to the point you can trade, you'll go to the Online option, Link Trade, make a code, and I'll type it in and give it to you

Alrighty then. I caught a Female Ralts with Trace. Didn't look to see what its nature was(or IV roll) but all of those can be mitigated with items thankfully. I'll get around to doing the Link Code sometime today/tonight or tomorrow(time permitting). Debating what route to take out of Mesagoza but I'll probably go West first to tackle Katy asap before heading East to do the first Titan with Psyduck. Hopefully by then my Ralts will have hit Kirlia stage to deal with the 2nd Titan and then promptly evolve it into Gallade once I get a Dawn Stone.

Campaign update: Before making my way into Mesagoza and the 2nd Nemona battle, I came across a gathering of Combee. Unfortunately, none were Female so no Vespiquen(yet…) Planning to tackle Katy first before doing both Titans and Brassius. Hopefully I'm not too over-leveled for the fights but so far so good. Got my first fully evolved Pokémon in Vivillon(which went into the Box) so now working on Pawmi and other catches. Must admit that the plethora of options makes team building quite easy and yet difficult at the same time since which one do you pick?

Campaign update: So I reached Katy and caught a bunch of Pokemon along the way. For the Gym Fight, I opted to roll with my male Ralts to open. Surprisingly, Nymble is pretty good since a couple Struggle Bugs lowered my Special Attack but managed to knock it out. If I wasn't using Skuntank, I might consider Lokik(the Anime did it and Katy justice). Her next Pokémon was not going to fall to a weakened Ralts so I swapped to Psyduck and took out Tarountula with a couple Water Pulse attacks. Then came Katy's ace in Teddiursa. Opted to switch to my Fire Croc for this one and match her Tera Orb to Tera Orb. Probably didn't need to but Incinerate at level 15 is more than enough to OHKO it for the win.

I then backtracked to the Eastern Gate and proceeded to catch a lot of Pokémon on the way to the first Titan. I'm quite impressed with Klawf. Not only are they strong at that early of a level but Anger Shell can lead to quite a reciprocation hit if you don't manage to KO it in one blow. That and they make such great Experience… good Pokémon to farm in Wild Fights as opposed to auto-battles for that reason alone. Made it to Artizon for Brassius and caught a Charcadet along the way. Would be extremely difficult not to use this guy if I hadn't rolled with Fuecoco. Ralts evolved into Kirlia so he's ready for the 2nd Titan fight and evolved Pawmi all the way to Pawmot, hence now in the Box. Got a lot of Pokémon to grind for evolution… ugh.

@Hades0918 : Link Code 15810775 via random number generator. Set up a time to be online in UTC for the A.Vulpix Trade. Am heading off for night.

I'll do the code with you today

I get off school at 12 AM, but don't normally get on until 2-2:30 AM. All that is in UTC. I could trade with you the moment I'm done with school if it would work for you

I also responded in my profile

Then let's try for 2am UTC. Considering its coming up on 6pm UTC, that's ~8 hours from now. I intend to grind my Arctic Fox quite a bit because I intend to use it in the Gym Battle and against the 2nd Titan given it has an advantage on both, although the Titan does have Rock moves so we'll see how much punishment it can withstand. Then once both fights are done, I'll go get the Dawn Stone to evolve Kirlia into Gallade. Ice Stone will be a bit later unless I take a detour.

    Wait

    Maybe my math is wrong

I get off school in 4 hours and 18 minutes

I'll most likely to be on 2 hours after that

My last reply was made around 5:45pm UTC and it only NOW shows up at 7:20pm or ~90 minutes later. This is why our Pokémon D&D sessions are going to be a royal pain w/o a faster response method. If you get off in 4 hours 18 minutes, then that would imply(if this was made at that timestamp) you get off around midnight UTC. So 2am UTC seems to be fine for you. I'll be online around that time doing a grind session for Dex completion(Klawf, Growlithe and Oricorio make solid XP opponents). I got to go grab the free Soothe Bell in Mesagoza though to do Pichu, Azurill, Igglybuff, Snom(when I catch it), Riolu(when I catch it) and Eevee(when I catch it for Espeon/Umbreon). Found a Moon Stone for Igglybuff too but I have to find an Oval Stone for Happiny and simply have to raise Bonsly to 16 for Mimic. Will post another Campaign Update late tonight.
