You can do it from best to worst or worst to best

I, personally, will be going with the second order

9: In last place I put the Johto trio. I don't have an issue with them (except Typhlosian. Both versions of it I don't like). There's nothing wrong with them. They are just bland and I don't care for them.

8: The Unova three only has one good option, and in my opinion it's Samurott. The other two suck.

7: So for seven I think it's Kanto. Only Charizard is cool. The other two aren't bad, but I don't like them.

6: So used to, I would have said Sinnoh (which is this answer) only has one good starter. Infernape. However, I've raised a Torterra and I've been unjustly overlooking it. I wouldn't call it a favorite, but it's nice. Empleon is just there.

5: Kalos is honestly mostly mid, but the three are better than the others below it. Greninja is cool but weak. Delphox it's decent. Chesnaught is…Chesnaught. Honestly, it's only Greninja and Delphox that put it at five

4: The Alola trio is awesome… Until you reach Primarina. Decidueye and Incinaroar make up for what Primarina ruins, though.

3: Paldea has two of my all time Pokémon! If it weren't for Skeledirge, they would probably be number one.

2: I feel the same way about Hoen's trio that I do about Paldea's, except in this case it's Swampert that ruins it. Blaziken and Sceptile are awesome, barely beating Quaquaval and Meowscarada.

1: And in the top place is Galar. Just like 2 and 3, I have one that I don't like. Well, for Galar I don't dislike it, just don't care for it. It's Rillaboom. Lucky for Galar, though, I love Cinderace and Inteleon enough to put them in first.

If I were to include it, they would be fourth, pushing Alola back

#1: Alola. As much as I hate on the Anime at times, the games weren't half bad and the trio is just really good. Incineroar has the title as best starter because competitively its just broken with Intimidate. If Wolfy says its broken, its broken folks. Primarina is also really, really good with Water/Fairy Typing. It's speed isn't the best but that typing along with its Hidden Ability makes it a real threat if you don't take it down. Decidueye is probably the weakest link of the three but from a design standpoint and the fact it's the Legolas of Pokémon, I have to give Alola the top spot.

#2: Hoenn. All three are solid starters and Mega Evolution did a lot to help them as I see it. The top Pokémon from this region is Swampert since Water/Ground is another type combination that is really good. Blaziken is scary with Speed Boost and Sceptile can deal some damage if it can setup a Swords Dance.

#3: Galar. All three are strong starters but I think they're somewhat reliant on G-Max. That said, Rillaboom carries the trio without it.

#4: Kanto. These three have gotten so much love over the years that its a wonder why anyone would have them outside the top 3. The reason I do is because prior to like Generation 6 when they got Mega Evolutions, they were an after-thought and in Generation 1 specifically, they're really bad to be quite honest.

#5: Johto. I do this out of respect/nostalgia if anything. Feraligatr was my main boy when playing on a friend's Gold version and I'll likely start with him on Z-A when I get it tomorrow.

#6: Sinnoh. Infernape is the sole reason they're this high because Empoleon is just too slow despite having Water/Steel and Torterra's typing is just horrible.

#7: Paldea. I don't hate them but I have to put them somewhere. Signature moves + Terastalization help them a lot though.

#8: Kalos. Similar to Paldea, I don't hate them but realistically, how strong are they? Greninja got hyped a ton and admittedly his Battle Bond was pretty good if you could get it to activate but outside of that… yeah… New Mega-Evolutions in Z-A may change my mind but why they didn't have them in Gen 6 is beyond me.

#9: Unova. Yeah, I love Serperior's design but this region's starters are sadly lacking. Oshawott is a cute otter but aside from that… yeah Unova has to take the title as worst trio.

I do like at least one pokemon out of eachthough. I'm just ranking them based on the average of the like of each pokemon there. For example I really like Meganium, my top 10 favorite starters, I just really dislike Feraligatr and Johto Typhlosion so it ranks at the bottom.
