Not completely, we'll still have a Unite library feature lol.
…it's mostly just due to legal issues, like avoiding being sued over money spent by players.

Wait.... WHAT?!
sooooo, this is basically saying they know their stuff was overcharging us?
Let me get this straight. They are shutting down the game to avoid being sued.
How many lawsuits were pending?
So the players were the ones who caused the shutdown?
Was this a spur of the moment kind of decision, because my goodness they could have given legit warning, not just from one leaker or the mysterious disappearances of things like the calendar, participation in worlds, and other things that looked like they were trying to discourage us from playing, but then to go and just bam "so sorry. Game shut down is coming and we're disabling features early, actually not early but immediately with no notice to you. No more gems but here you go, you can purchase things with those no-longer-attainable gems because we disabled it before the sale so only people with stockpiles can participate for a super reduced cost. And that way we can show we didn't make a profit over the last 5 months of gameplay since we disabled and blocked all means of allowing consumers/clients/trainers from purchasing our services. " 😐
Let me guess. They won't be doing ranked anymore either? What about in-game tournaments?
Ugh
(Yes, now I'm feeling bitter)
The last hoo-rah event in November they say will be their last update too.
I was actually waiting for Pikaszu to say something prior to believing the rumors, but she stayed quiet. Until this (contains some info on what's happening if anyone doesn't know yet):
