So you can still have fun, but you will play a lot of AI matches even in ranked mode until Ultra... I would say you should try it, but I wouldn't advise wasting money on it at all.

I personally never wasted money on it… it's possible to play the game at it's highest level as a f2p... so just my advice taking into consideration the current game state and the direction it's going
