It's crazy how underrated the forums are.
I'm super surprised that very few people are active here. It's an official community on the pokemon's own site, so you'd expect it to be way more popular
I do much prefer having the smaller community though, it's nice getting to know people more.

I think as far as the larger internet is concerned, these forums existed for a few days, were overrun and shut down. Even those who used the forums back then are not aware they reopened in the majority of cases.
Honestly I think we are the better for it. Not having to deal with the online controversy de jour, Pokémon related or otherwise, nor being flooded with people asking the same game help questions over and over again, nor being overwhelmed with dozens of the same "who's your favourite Pokémon/female gym leader/content creator" threads is all to our benefit.
I'll take a quiet, close-knit small community over a busy, faceless screeching mob any day.

Tbh forums in general feel a bit legacy nowadays, especially when platforms like Discord or Reddit offer much faster and more interactive engagement.
On top of that, the current main sections here are too limited... at the very least, there should be a dedicated section for each mainstream game, such a GO, ZA, etc. it feels outdated to have just a S&V section at this point... I mean with new vgc already out.
Also, the entire platform could be much better organized... adding small qol features, like a builtin dark theme and more profile image options... I believe this could keep more people active, even with this being a traditional forum setup.
Anyway I still like being here.

Agreed. It's a good thing.

Yeah honestly it is good that we are quite sheltered here.
