Chapter 9: Large Round Pink Beast
Homare's Point of View
Me and Lance rush out of the Never Leaf Hotel, looking out at the dark street for the source of the commotion. It doesn't take much hunting to find the giant pink round monster that's launching Moonblasts at everything around it. "What the heck is that thing," the Gallade exclaims as we run towards it.
"I don't know, but we have to stop it," I respond as I put my arms together and launch an Aura Sphere. The blue orb makes a direct hit, but the destructive beast seems completely unphased.
"Ha! You thought that would do something," Lance says with an amused smirk as he rushes past me. "Watch and learn!"
The Blade Pokémon leaps at the monstrosity and extends his blade. With a loud cry he slashes at the creature with Sacred Sword. Instead of a clean cut, though, Lance's arm gets engulfed by the pink one's body. My companion only has time to panic as the monster's body pushes him out, sending him flying before he crashes into the ground with a painful thud.
"You really thought that would do something," I ask as I offer him my hand. If I had a mouth, I would have a face hurting smile right now.
"Shut up," Lance mutters as he grabs my wrist. After pulling him to his feet and he brushes himself off, we look back at the demonic ball and find it staring back at us with wide blue eyes. Eyes that we've seen before…
"OH MY ARCEUS," I suddenly exclaim, making Lance's soul nearly jump from his body with surprise. "That's the Wigglytuff that welcomed us and showed us around!"
"Okay, but did you really have to shout like that," the Fighting/Psychic type questions, hand on his heart. "I nearly had a heart attack!"
"Sorry," I tell him with a small chuckle. "But it is her!"
Lance studies the thing closer and a mixed look of recognition and surprise spreads across his face. "You're absolutely right," he says with shock. "But why is she doing this? Why is she like this?"
"Well, let's ask her," I state with confidence. Ignoring my partners visual and verbal demands not to do it, I walk closer to the disfigured Wigglytuff and shout: "What happened to you?"
She just stares at me for a bit, her wide, wild eyes boring into mine. Then, out of absolutely nowhere, she shrieks and fires a Hyper Beam at me and I barely roll out of the way in time to avoid it. "So much for that awful idea," Lance shouts as he dashes at Wigglytuff again. As he passes me, I reach out my arm and he slaps my hand, taking the power of Helping Hand. The Blade Pokémon jumps up and lands a Psycho Cut in one of the Fairy/Normal type beast's eye.
The mutant cries out in pain as she stumbles backwards from the hit, crushing a house in the process. The resident of the building barely made it out in time, inches away from being crushed. I rush over to them and help move them away from the danger. After getting the citizen somewhere safe, I turn back to the battle and see Lance getting utterly destroyed by Wigglytuff's Double Slap. As I get back into fighting range, my teammate gets slammed into the wall, nearly unconscious. The pink demon lets out a laugh that sounds more like a screech as she charges up a Moonblast, getting ready to finish Lance.
My body moves on its own, the only thing on my mind saving Lance. "Hey," I scream as I leap up into the air, catching the destructive enemy's attention. I put my arms together, my cannon forming a big ball of orange that's growing quickly. "Eat this!"
KA-BOOM!!!
I unleash an Armor Cannon that obliterates Wigglytuff and sends me flying higher into the air. I take a decrease to both of my defenses right before I hit the Earth, making the landing much more painful. I groan as I stand up again, legs shaking and ears ringing. "I think I broke a few somethings," I grumble to myself, my ribs feeling like they're stabbing their way out of me and arms feeling on fire. I look at my victim and see the once-Wigglytuff completely knocked out and covered in burns.
I'm about to go to Lance, but then the Wigglytuff's body begins to shine, catching my attention. She shimmers brightly, being completely encased in light. It looks like the glow is about to burst off of her, but suddenly, it all goes back into her, causing her explode. I don't even have time to react as I'm blown off my feet and covered in pink. For a moment I just lie on the ground, out of energy and unable to move. Right as my world begins to go dark, a dragon shaped shadow passes over me.
I sit straight up and immediately regret it as everything in me begins to burn. I ignore the pain, though, and look up, seeing a Charizard descending and coming right at me. I manage to make it back onto my feet right as he lands next to me.
"Who… are… you," I demand between weak ragged breath. The Charizard looks me up and down then scoffs.
"I expected that the Pokémon sent to stop me would be more impressive than… this," he states, gesturing to all of me with pure disappointment.
"You're the wanna-be dragon," I exclaim with surprise. Anger flashes across the Fire/Flying type's face.
"Don't you EVER call me that," he growl, grabbing my throat tightly and lifting me in the air. "I am a Dragon! And my name is-"
"That's enough, Draco," a female's voice that I know way too well calls out from the shadows. "We're not here for him."
"Jasmine," I say with shock as the Charizard (with much attitude) sets me back down. Sure enough, a Ceruledge walks out from the darkness of the trees, staring at me with cruel amusement.
"Hello, brother," she replies happily, giving me a cheerful wave. "Ah, I see you used Armor Cannon. You've always had such a powerful blast but could never handle the recoil." My sister shakes her head with a chuckle. "It is honestly a mix of impressive and pathetic!"
"Why, you—" I growl, attempting to put my cannon together but immediately regret it, the pain shooting through me and making me stagger a bit. Jasmine laughs at my failed attack.
"Don't waste the little energy you have on me," she says, walking past me to where Wigglytuff was. "I'm just here for my test subject."
"Your test subject," I repeat with question.
"Yup," she responds as she bends down and scoops some of the exploded mutant's remains into a glass vile. "You know, the thing that's all over you."
"What did you do to her," I demand. I'm too weak to attack her, so instead I give her a deadly glare.
"I experimented with an ancient power I'm working on harnessing," Jasmine answers as she passes me again to go back to the Charizard. "She isn't special, though. I've practiced on many others before her."
"So you've put other innocent Pokémon through suffering for some stupid science experiment," I ask, more as an aggressive statement.
"It's not stupid but that sums it up pretty well," the Ceruledge agrees as she climbs onto Draco's back. Right before they take off, she says "Go ahead, Draco. Have your fun!"
The wanna-be dragon smirks as he shoots off into the sky, releasing a powerful Fire Blast at the Never Leaf Hotel as they fly away. I can't do anything but watch as the tree goes down in flames and the two escape into the dark night sky. Pokémon begin to gather around the hotel, many crying as it continues to burn. I'm so focused on everything that just happened that I had temporarily forgotten about Lance.
"What the heck happened," he asks weakly. I snap back to the present, looking over to see him struggling out of the rubble. Once up, he staggers over to me, following my gaze and gasping shakily at the sight of the Never Leaf Hotel. "Wha-What..."
"We've got to go," I state, wrapping an arm around him and begin walking in the direction Draco was flying. "I'll explain everything as we go."
It's been so long since my last chapter, but here we go!
I haven't reread it, yet, but I really like how it turned out!
Wonder what Jasmine has been doing...
Well, actually I know!
