Why is there no working updater for Windows?

Out of the last four or five updates, only one has successfully updated on Windows. Every other time, clicking "update now" just takes me to the download page, forcing me to uninstall and redownload the entire thing

edit: they only don't appear if I quote someone.

To the poster above, make sure you delete all the old files including the old installer. I have definitely re-installed the previous version by mistake.

I mostly play on my phone, so it doesn't bother me

But when my phone runs out of space then I only have my computer and that's when it bugs me

I'll remember that when I try to update again
