Going First is simply worse than going second

There are literally 0 advantages of going first, only disadvantages.
Going first should, at the very least, let you play an energy but even then its probably still not good enough since going second can attack.
Being able to give 1 energy is a must, but maybe even letting the first player draw an extra card would be ok to balance it out, since it can be countered by Red Card anyways

    Going first means you have:

    • The ability to evolve first
    • Play a supporter or item card first (disrupting with Sabrina or Red Card — hurts evolution decks the most)
    • No energy

    Going second nets you:

    • You get the first energy
    • You get to attack first

Honestly, I think going second is almost always better than going first. Getting the first energy is advantageous, even when you can’t evolve first. You’re winning the energy race when you go second, and most of the best attacks in the game require at least two energies.

This is something that absolutely needs to change, going first is extremely bad for almost any kind of deck with just a few exceptions.

In PokeTCG online the first gets the first energy, the 2nd gets the first attack. I don't know why they didn't use that here.

Right now I lose half of the games simply because I had to go first and my opponent is ahead of and having energies and having the first attack

You can still attach on first turn.

Teal mask allows for a draw and attach.

With any deck like raging bolt or hydrapple, finding energies is the most important this, going first lets you get these out.

@Jadite that's true but this is about TCG Pocket, there you can also use a supporter going 1st so there are still ways to attach energy (via supporters, etc.) but the "problem" is that you can't manually attach going 1st, witch makes going 2nd generally better for now.

The game it's not in it's final release tho so things can change who knows… even if that doesn't change future sets can change things… we will see.

To the people who say things like "You can have this card and get energies on the first turn". You can use the same card if going second and have double the energies… It's not about fixing the disparity by having a certain card, because this also creates the problem of "not having this kind of card makes your deck bad", simply because going first doesn't come with advantages for 80% of the decks

@TaurusFire using the card to attach energy benefits more who goes 1st because you can be the 1st to attack and next turn you can evolve attacking even stronger… that said I agree that you should be able to manually attach energy going 1st and don't allow using a supporter and attack similar to TCG Live.

Also there are 2 important facts, 1st as you said going first doesn't come with significant advantages for 80% of the CURRENT decks meta changes when new cards are introduced and 2nd this is not the final release so this rule can change as other things will change for sure upon the final release.

I'm sure they are aware of this complains and will do something about it, either changing the rule or introducing cards that benefit more going 1st.

The biggest problem about these "With this card you can do it" things, is that any deck without that card instantly becomes much less valid. It forces you to have certain cards in your deck just to make it valid if it goes first

Yes, but it's not a problem it's a feature… Pokemon TCG it's a game of adjustments due to the dynamic nature of the meta, if a card becomes too dominant all the decks will have to find a way to counter it.

Example, if that card you mentioned can only be used to accelerate energy to Fighting type Pokemon and a lot of Fighting type deck start to emerge, players will adapt playing more Pokemon that hit for those for weakness (usually Grass or Psychic type) and then if there are a lot more Grass type decks… more Fire type based Decks will rise… and the meta will be leveled again. In extreme broken situatons they will "print" cards to help counter a broken deck (in TCG Pocket it's even easier because it's only digital).

That said in my opinion upon the final release they will change the going 1st situation to be able to manually attach energy and don't allow to play supporters (like the original Pokemon TCG), at leat that's what I hope.
