What's Pikachu Libre? How does it differ from regular Pikachu? Is it a costume?

@TheJeffers It's a the kind of a Cosplay Pikachu for special Generation VI-exclusive female-only alternate form of Pikachu for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the that cannot evolve or become traded to any video games, like X, Y, Sun Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.

    Oh, I remember that.

Generation VI-exclusive female-only alternate form of Pikachu for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the that cannot evolve or become traded to any video games, like X, Y, Sun Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.

It's a mystery. Maybe you can talk people into using it more in Scarlet and Violet.

Pikachu Libre was the toughness contest one. The other were also for contests and each had a special move for whatever kind of contest it was for (I forgot the moves). The others were Pikachu Pop Star, Pikachu Rock Star, Pikachu Belle, and Pikachu PhD. They all have a black mark on their tails, likely a reference to some people misremember Pikachu as having it. They got an episode in the anime too. Also they can't even be inserted into Pokémon Bank.

They were awesome, I always used one whenever I replayed ORAS. I kinda wish they weren't stuck there.

@Hey_PIKMIN Pokken was originally a Wii U title, right? Is it not just a relic of the time the game was originally developed?

As for Smash, wasn't the focus bringing every character ever to feature into one game? I didn't play much of the Wii U version because I only knew one person who owned one, but I assume this Pikachu was there.

@TheJeffers Pokken is a Wii U title though some characters were added in the switch version if I'm not mistaken

I own both Smash for the 3ds and Wii U, I've played so much out of the 3ds version so I know that didn't have it and I haven't played Wii U in a while and I can't check because it isn't plugged in, BUT I don't think it was there

I think Libre was moreso added as a cool costume for the female Pikachu rather than popularity

I don't think there's anything wrong with different Pikachus in costumes. It's a fun concept. But these unique Pokémon are often locked to a generation, if not their source game exclusively.

Additionally they present a problem because if they are not competitively viable, a lot of people will think them useless and just box them, but if they are too good they need to be widely available or they risk giving players who participated in limited distributions an unfair advantage. It is a fine line and not worth the effort.

Maybe in the future costumes will be a held item or a cosmetic option for Pokémon, and we can put them on our favourites we bred or captured ourselves.
