For those who are gonna be writing next the story will be from the perspective of a younger Guzma (it will change perspectives, it will make sense soon) so keep that in mind.

Here is the general format of the story and their narrators:
2016 is considered present day as that is when the events of Sun/Moon occurred.
For part 1 and 2 it is a police interview conducted by Looker interviewing both Guzma and Ilima to find out more information about Iggy. These interviews lead up to the present day. Part 1 is the exposition, really establishing things and building characters for later. Part 2 is the rising action, when the story really starts getting real and things really start unfolding. Part 3 is the conclusion which is still a bit unclear on how it will occur, it takes place during the present day and is the climax of the story. This is the main action of the story and there should be some sort of epic event taking place to really make this story great. An epilogue could be good as well.
Part 1: From the perspective of Guzma taking place between 2006-2011
Part 2: From the perspective of Ilima taking place between 2011-2016
Part 3: From the perspective of Looker or Iggy (whatever seems most appropriate) taking place in 2016

And I'm not saying you wrote something bad. It's just not with the plot that was requested.
When you said creative liberty, I though you meant style of writing, Izzy's personality, their early choices.
Not the entire plot.
I have a comment in your chapter waiting for approval. It goes more in detail of our misunderstanding.
