I named this post that to get y'all's attention. That is what I thought when I first played Sword and Shield, though. I want to talk about why she would make the perfect villain.

She grew up in her grandma's shadow (Professor Magnolia). Now that she's an adult, she decided to follow in her grandma's footsteps, and that put a lot of pressure on her shoulders, trying to follow that legacy, immediately having high expectations put on her because of her heritage. It's a lot. She'd probably want revenge on her grandma, too, because Sonia blames her for these extra struggles. Another thing is Leon. They were friends, started their journey together, were rivals. But Leon doesn't consider her a rival. He probably thinks she's a friend, but doesn't see her as competition. He only remembers her cooking skills from their journey together. This would cause anger in Sonia, making her determined to prove that she is worth noticing as a trainer, working to become better than Leon at all costs, no matter the consequences. What better way to get revenge on the two people that make her most miserable in life than to resurrect a savage beast from olden days. Eternataus is the cause of Maxing coming to Galar, the reason for the Darkest Day, two things her grandma could never explain. She now did something that nobody else could, becoming better than the person that she could never out-shine. As for the Leon part, she now has a powerful Legendary Pokémon at her whim, one that Leon cannot defeat. It would also attract Zacian and Zamazenta, which she also planned to defeat with Eternataus and catch them, too. Who cares Galar gets destroyed? She finally proved that she is worth noticing and is better than what everyone thought she could be.

Let me tell ya, when I went into the tapestry room and Sonia explained what the Darkest Day was, I thought this was when she revealed she was a villain. We were alone in a dark room talking about the destruction of Galar. The perfect moment to reveal her story and plans, and battle me and defeat me to stop me from stopping her. Obviously that didn't happen, but I still didn't trust her. When I went to battle Bea and then that BOOM happened and the ancient mural was destroyed, I thought for sure Sonia was behind it. Again, though, I was wrong. I kept waiting throughout the whole game for her to be a secret villain and the moment never came.

I wanted to share that idea with y'all. Any thoughts on it?
