How long will Pokémon last?

Pokémon was founded around 1986-1988, by game designer Satoshi Tajiri. Over the years, Pokémon was beloved by fans of all ages. But one question still lasts:
How long will Pokémon last anyway?

The series has made too big of a cultural impact to ever truly disappear, I think. But everything's popularity wanes eventually. Arguably it already has to a degree, given that Pokémania ended decades ago.
Despite very public controversies in recent years, I believe it is likely public interest in the series will eventually fade away, rather than one big exodus event.
Perhaps the mounting complaints and perceived failures will take their toll, and despite all the noise on the internet, the fanbase will dissipate quietly and gradually.
Perhaps some new fad will come along and eclipse everything else, including Pokémon.
But whatever happens and however long it takes, the series will likely go dormant for some years when the fanbase does step away. Give people time to miss it and present the opportunity for the new generations who never knew Pokémon to be curious about it and view it as something new.
Something this big can never simply stop.

It was made 1996, not '86. As for how long it'll last, probably until it can't be made anymore considering it's the highest grossing franchise ever made.

Hopefully? A long, long time.
Honestly? Who knows?2 -
I personally would like it to go on for 20 more generations! Or at least until something better comes along…

Chances are it will never end unless GameFreak closes down, and even then the community won't let it end.
