Ash isn't even in the games, unless you count Yellow.
As for the anime, I was angry as a kid when they went to Johto and left characters behind, but in retrospect they should have dropped all of the characters the second Johto started. Ash has been around 20 years too long already.

I think that he's stayed a bit too long. It was probably hard for the writers to continuously make stories for a specific character for so long, especially with how some great ideas just can't be accomplished with a character like Ash (as different characters have different positives, negatives, likes and dislikes, just like humans). I mean, Liko's story would probably be very different if you replaced her with Ash.
I definitely would've liked it if we got to see someone journey through Galar in the anime though. But Liko, Roy and the Rising Volt Tacklers are really cool too (I actually prefer them, maybe because we've seen Ash so much in this over a quarter of a decade).

No. I want him back. I am ok if he is no longer the main character BUT I just want to know if the Pokémon Horizons storyline isn't a complete reboot, that they are in the same world.

Why did I day decade here. A quarter of a decade is 2.5 years (a decade is 10 years). I meant over a quarter of a century (a century is 100 years).

I mean, I liked Ash, but I'm ready for a new protagonist- and Liko feels fun from the like five episodes I watched.

I never really liked Ash. I liked his relation ship with other (Ash and Pikachu, Ash and Misty, Ash and Brock, Ash and Iris, etc.), but I never actually cared for Ash. I liked the change in protagonists. It fun, new, and refreshing. However, I would like to see him in passing or featured in an episode, something. See how he's doing and what he's up to. I also want Team Rocket back! Those guys I love and miss. I'd only get the Team Rocket I love (Jessie, James, and Meowth) if Ash appears, though. So I don't miss him, but I want just one cameo appearance.
