What do you think is the most underrated Pokémon game?

For me, I think Pokémon Rumble and My Pokémon Ranch for the Wii which I do have on my old Wii, oh, and Hey you, Pikachu for the N64! But I wonder, what Pokémon game do you think is mostly forgotten about over the years in their video game lineup?

In a weird way, I think Red and Blue are kind of underrated these days.
It my sound like an absurd suggestion, considering they are still the best selling games in the franchise, they started the franchise, they were sold at the height of Pokémania, and are iconic to this day...
But nowadays if someone wants to play gen 1, everyone says you should play FireRed and LeafGreen, or the Let's Go games. So many say Red and Blue are outdated, even unplayable, and have been completely replaced by the remakes, but that is not true.
I think RGY still hold up to this day. They are iconic (as mentioned earlier), they have a distinct look and style, the region design is solid and the gameplay is balanced around not having Steel and Dark types, along with newer features and moves. FRLG offer a different experience and LGPE are not even traditional Pokémon games.
So in a bizarre way, despite being the legendary origins of the Pokémon franchise, I would say Red and Blue are severely underrated these days.

mystery dungeon it’s better than the mainline games yet its existence seeming to be neglected by the pokemon company
It's difficult to say how much responsibility the Pokémon Company bear for that. Yes, a new game will not be made without their licence, but Spike Chunsoft own the Mystery Dungeon brand. They may wish to focus on other Mystery Dungeon games for other franchises, their own mainline Mystery Dungeon games, or other projects entirely.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shiny Pearl.

I think the popular appraisal of them is correct. It's nice if you enjoyed them and I don't want to take that away from you, but they are such a disappointment compared to what they could have been.
Imagine if they were complete remakes with Platinum's improvements and content, and SwSh's art style. Instead we got a lazy port, bugs and all, of only DP's content. The mandatory exp. share even ruined the original's balance.
I think it's hard to argue that BDSP aren't the worst version of gen 4, and I feel so sorry for gen 4 fans. You deserved better.

probably from objective standpoint, Black and White 2. I know this game isn't really that underrated, no Pokémon game is underrated in all honesty, that's just the cause of it being the biggest franchise in the world. but when everything's not underrated, it just loops back around to the standard of it being overrated, perfectly rated, or underrated. while it is usually in the top two when someone ranks the Pokémon games, that's assuming that they even remember the game exists at all. the game sold 7 million copies, making it the worst selling Pokémon game (also no the other entries below it don't count. those are enhanced rereleases and thus are just different versions of a game. this is the lowest rated game that's not just a upgraded). I've seen some people just forget the game exists and it's a shame because it really is the best game that game freak has ever made. I'm sure it would be talked about even more had it sold more copies. here's to hoping with the inevitable black and white remakes (assuming they are good), they also remake Black and White 2 (to be completely honest with you though... I'm not really sure there's much to change. I'm a bit scared of the game getting accidentally worse, since so much stuff about the game is good; it's likely they could accidentally make a thing worse.)

Sword and Shield. They're my favorite games but nobody seems to like them. There's pretty much nothing I dislike about the games. Pokémon designs? Great. Story? Loved it. Hop? My favorite rival ever. Leon? A little goofy but I like it. And if it's about the Pokédex cut, well, it had to happen sometime.
(Plus Sword was my first ever pokémon game and one of my first EVER video games. And it got me really into Pokémon. Back then I was a little kid and called Scorbunny 'Scorchbunny'.)

I don't know what the most underrated Pokemon game is, a lot of the early ones have been forgotten to time and the newer ones just suck. I don't know which games would be underrated, I think most of them are fairly rated by the community and allowed Game Freak to take proper criticism in order to improve their later titles.

I understand that they are your first Pokémon games, and they are very special to you. They probably shape a lot of your perception of what a Pokémon game should be. And it's fair enough if you enjoy them. You like what you like, after all.
Out of interest, have you tried playing other Pokémon games? Particularly earlier installments? If you have, what do you think they lacked that was present in SwSh? What did they do wrong that SwSh did better?
To be honest, I think that SwSh are the worst games in the franchise, but there are things I like about them. The character designs are really appealing, some of the towns look nice, and the music is fantastic as ever.
If you haven't tried other games, it might be worth giving them a go. You might understand better why others criticise SwSh. You may even find a new favourite game in the franchise.

I've tried some other games. I don't have access to many. I've played X, Sword, Let's GO Eevee, Violet, Legends: Arceus, UltraMoon, and soon am to play Black 2. I love all the games I've played, but I still love Sword best. But of course, I love different aspects of the other games, too. I loved Team Flare (Their storyline, that is. I hate the guys themselves.), Violet's characters, Legends: Arceus catching style, UltraMoon's story about Lusamine, Lillie and the Ultra Recon Squad, and even though I haven't played it yet, I know about Black 2's N story (or have a basic idea) and love that too! It's just Sword feels like it has the best world. It felt really alive to me.
So really, I guess my favorite is the Pokémon world itself! I often make stories in my head where I travel the Pokémon world with a mix of everything, and that's really fun ~. But I just want to say Sword is my favorite, and think it gets a little too much hate. But to each their own.
