Please consider making Pack Points Partially Universal

Dear Pokémon TCG Pocket Dev Team,
I’ve been seeing a growing concern voiced across multiple forums regarding the current pace at which expansion sets are being released. With the recent introduction of Ranked play, maintaining a viable, competitive deck has become even more essential for players who want to stay engaged and actively participate in matches as well as collectors and new comers who are trying to keep pace with basic card collection in general.
As a potential solution, I would like to advocate for allowing pack points to be partially universal across previous sets — or at the very least, usable interchangeably among all past sets prior to the latest release. For example, with Shining Revelry currently being the most recent set, pack points from Triumphant Light, Space-Time Smackdown, Mythical Island, and Genetic Apex could be made mutually compatible.
Benefits:
- Competitive Accessibility: This would enable players to gradually build viable decks for Ranked/Competitive modes by using their hard-earned points to pull that one elusive EX or essential card for their decks — especially for those with poor luck in RNG pulls.
- Collector Progression: Casual players and collectors who may have fallen behind could continue working toward completing previous sets at their own pace, rather than abandoning them due to set rotation or pressure from new releases.
- Improved Player Retention & Engagement: Allowing some flexibility in pack point usage would encourage more players to log in regularly and engage with the game longer, knowing their efforts across sets aren’t rendered obsolete as soon as a new expansion drops.
- Preserves Core Balance: The current pack point limit of 2,500 (equivalent to opening 500 packs) would still apply — curbing the potential abuse of stockpiling and preventing players from over-optimizing pulls from newer sets or future Crown/Star/Shiny cards.
- Resource Optimization: Most importantly, this would give players a meaningful use for leftover pack points from older sets, which would otherwise remain unused indefinitely.
In closing, I believe this approach strikes a healthy balance between maintaining the game’s long-term monetization strategy, honoring collection goals, and creating a more sustainable and player-friendly environment — especially as the game grows and evolves.

I agree and support this.
When the game introduces more newer packs , it will become more difficult for new players if they want to get staples (eg. Sabrina, cryus , red etc).
It will be helpful for them to earn points on a new pack then using the points earned to redeem those cards from the old pack .Not to forget it will also be beneficial to day 1 players to get those old packs rare cards they are missing.
Everyone will appreciate this improvement and I don’t see the downsides of this .
