Rank up. There are a lot of people who have no clue what they’re doing at the Beginner - Veteran, and even lower Ultra ranks. Stealing mid from whoever calls it, poaching your almost-defeated mons, ignoring RayQ/Zap/Regi, etc. It’s a hot mess down there. Every once in a while (like during the hours after school lets out and kids come home to play) you still encounter this in Ultra & even Masters, but it’s more rare. You will start to encounter TEAM PLAYERS, provided you are a team player yourself. Also, if someone is not a team player or generally sucks, no one will want to team up w them.

You might be encountering bots. Bots suck. I often wonder why the bots are so prevalent the higher you rank in Masters. Below 1300, I do not seem to encounter them, but as soon as I get above 1300, they seem to be everywhere. In the last week, I have noticed that whenever I play in the afternoon PDT, practically my entire team is comprised of bots. It’s maddening. No teamwork, no boss rushes… all over the map. I’ll be rushing RayQ and a “teammate” will come up into the RayQ ring, but not attack. They’ll just spazz against the edge of the ring like they’ve lost their minds and then run away without ever attacking. I find that it’s better to wait until evening my time and then I encounter more serious, adult players and less bots.

Of course I’m in ranked 😆 How does one play without knowing they’re in ranked?
As for bots in Masters, how else does one explain (multiple) teammates that spazz back and forth in their separate micro-areas (usually against a wall/rock obstacle) for 10+ seconds, as if they can’t get around it? It seems pretty obvious (if you watch them) that they are going for a certain target (wild mons, usually) but the programming doesn’t see the wall/obstacle. The RayQ situation I mentioned above is a perfect example. Who on earth would enter the Pit while I am attacking and spazz their Tyranitar back and forth against the west side of the wall the entire time instead of attacking alongside me or running off to fight/score ?
As for losing a bunch in a row, what constitutes a lot? 😁 If I lose more than 2 games in a row, I tend to get frustrated and take a break, either doing a quick battle, nit-picking my boost emblem setups or logging off entirely (unless I’m invited to join a team of real ppl).
Anyway. Better luck finding team players.
