Honestly, I hope not. I understand that many people love him and he's been the main character since the first season, but every story he's in as a main character is basically the same story.
He can't improve too much because they need to make more stories with him, and he can't be a newbie trainer in a new series because he's been the main character since season one. They can't have a previous series be too important to the next one either, because no one wants to watch dozens of hundreds of episodes of the Pokémon anime just to understand what the new series is about.
So he's an extremely simple character who is rarely allowed to accomplish anything and rarely ever improves throughout over 1000 episodes.
I'm not opposed to him appearing again though, as long as he's not the main character.
