They actually don't even use the larger cartridges for the Pokémon series.

I think the console after the next one will not have physical media. The next one might even offer a cartridge free option. Sony and Microsoft have already gone that route, and many people don't bother installing optical disc drives on their PCs.

most people I know opt to use physical instead of digital for their switch games plus going pure digital will decrease sales imagine a kid walking through a store he got a new video game system and his mom was taking him to get some games he sees one that looks interesting it has a pink circular character in a overgrown city next to a car and chooses that game and he played and enjoyed it telling all his friends to get the game. what if that kid never saw the game never picked it and eventually sold the system cause he didn’t know how to purchase a game

Maybe but nintendo has always been different and cartriges just work. Like unless the rumors are true about denuvo then they will probably stay with cartridges.

I am not so sure. I know Nintendo has always lagged behind competitors when it comes to new technology and online services, sometimes deliberately.

But I think inevitably cartridges will be replaced with codes in empty boxes, then phased out entirely.

I think so to. But big Nintendo usually has plans that differ when it comes to cartridges.

Both are fine, it all depends on Nintendo as a company.
