How does that envelope icon work? :O
That icon of an envelope at the top right here… Is it supposed to work like an inbox or something? For some reason, I can't seem to write messages to others that way, when normally it's possible like elsewhere. Yet, I haven't got a message from that inbox for the first time, either. I'm just curious to know why, that's all.

It's presumably private messages. I assume it is part of the generic forum software this site uses, but they probably disabled it because they don't want to allow users to message each other privately on a child focused site for safety reasons.

Oh sorry, I meant to say that icon is an envelope. XO

Can't you just edit your post to say that?

Sorry about that. I've edited.

it’s for the mods to give warnings to people I think I once made a post about having @FlyPupKai to get kicked from the forums the mods deleted that post and sent me a message warning to not do that again

@clasingla It would make sense that the mods would still have access to it.

Finally, a genuine answer! :D So I see now… I've always wondered why private messaging doesn't seem possible, despite that envelope icon being there for whatever reason. :O It is odd… Why would it be disabled? It's not like that on most other social interaction sites. =/ [shrugs]
…But maybe alternatively on the other hand, if private messaging can't be done here, how about message me via email instead? I have my email displayed publicly, in case if anyone's interested to contact me privately that way. I just mean anyone, really… No offence intended. XD ^^'

I believe that most people are benevolent, or at least have no genuine ill will towards others on the internet, even if discourse on the internet in general can be quite vitriolic, to say the least.
But anyone can access a public forum, and it only takes one or two out of thousands (or even millions) with malicious intent for very bad things to happen.
In the interest of protecting younger users, especially young children, who are likely to populate the Pokémon official forums, it makes total sense to me to disable any private communication functionality on the forum. DMs, email, all of it.
Unfortunate for everyone else who means no harm. But sadly necessary.
