Mandatory base pokemon in 1st hand
After several days of testing, we (New Zealanders and transplants🫡) realized that the game automatically gives us a basic pokémon in our starting hand !
By abusing this “hidden rule”, it's possible to have the pokémon we want right from the start, if we put just one basic pokémon in our deck.
Of course this affects the deckbuilding and the balance of the entire game.
Is this voluntary? Or are you planning to remove this rule to make it like the classic TCG and grant an extra draw to the opponent for each hand without a basic pokémon?

So basically there is no "mulligan" in TCG Pocket? lol
I bet that this is a must change thing for the final release… otherwise I can just imagine how players will take advantage of this "new mechanism". If stays like it is definitely has the potential to make the game unbalanced and monotone.

They are already exploiting this with 2 decks, the Articuno ex deck you mentioned and also the Zapdos ex deck, both use the same single Basic Pokemon strategy.
In the future this can be even more problematic as better Trainer cards and basic Pokemon are released.

Its not even those. You can abuse this mechanic in any way. With two pokeball cards and a deck like mewtwo and gardevior you can practically guarentee any deck will get you your best pokemon basics into your hand right away. Its really annoying and doesn't punish players using unbalanced decks in this way. I think they do not have a system/function in place that will let players either reshuffle to draw or force them to lose. With a ranking battle mode possibly in the works such things should be changed or I will definitely not participate in ranked battles!

Yes, my previous post was old... from like 2 months ago… those decks I mentioned are not great, but at least to me now it's even more obvious that this "no mulligan" system needs to change to make the game more fair.

with two professor oaks and 5 cards on first draw the chances of getting what you want are very high. still nothing is as bad as dealing with a starmie ex on turn 2. haha
