Neutralizing Gas vs Fusion Strike System

Galarian Weezing's Neutralizing Gas ability should shut down Genesect V's Fusion Strike System but it does not. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

  Does the Genesect V have a Fusion Strike Energy attached to it? Fusion Strike Energy prevents the Ability-blocking effects of Neutralizing Gas from being applied to any Fusion Strike Pokémon that have one attached to ‘em.
